Huh. One loss Auburn and Georgia ahead of undefeated FSU? That is a head scratcher.

comments on each

------------Mississippi State--------they beat Auburn and AT LSU

-----------Ole Miss------------they beat Alabama at Home

------------Georgia------------they crushed Clemson, Back-to-Back Dominating Road Wins, Shutout Missouri on the Road who just Abused Florida in the Swamp

------------Auburn------------they crushed LSU, won at Kansas State

------------Florida State--------tough to be #1 in Power Ratings when you never cover a game, their only cover was against Wake Forest I believe and even that was close

-----------Notre Dame---------all Golson does is win, the only ones that can stop him are the refs....However, player for Notre Dame could have disguised it a lot better like a veteran

----------Alabama-------------Looked great today, but still questions remain as I don't even know who their best win is against at this point....West Virginia?

----------Oregon-------------They look like Oregon again and have recovered some from that Home Loss...

-----------Kansas State---------Only loss was to Auburn and they covered that game..........Won at Oklahoma which is a very difficult place to win at.

----------Ohio State-------------Only loss was at Home when they were breaking in a new QB.....They have been on a terror since then putting up 50+ 4 straight games and their Head Coach has won a few big games before.

You base your power ratings off whether a team covers a game or not? FSU?

Just trying to figure your rationale here.

These are Power Ratings, not bourgeois media rankings that are more reactionary where things tend to be looked at on the surface more than below it...

Yes that is a factor along with several others..........It is nothing against Florida State (which is why they are unbiased)....In 2013, I had them ranked #1 by a big gap before most did as they were destroying the line each week along with some other key factors I look at.....Of course, the SEC people didn't like to hear that at the time, but that is why they are unbiased...

May sound simplistic, but beating the Vegas line regularly makes you more under-rated and losing to it regularly makes you more over-rated........Florida State has proven they aren't as good as last year and I'm sure Noles fans will be the first to tell you that........Lucky for them they got a weak schedule left and there is a playoff this year along with Winston showing the "it" factor again in big games.........Don't think it will be enough though for them to repeat as last year's team was just better in my opinion, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

The difference between this year (2014) and last year (2013) is the teams at the top are bunched together more with very small gaps between them...........It was actually one year ago (October 19th, 2013) that Florida State won AT Clemson 51-14.......Clemson would eventually go on to beat Ohio State in a BCS Bowl game......But after that game Florida State was the clear favorite to win it all in ratings after showing big separation as weeks before they beat a Maryland team getting some hype at the time 63-0...In my opinion, it took Maryland awhile to recover from that abuse psychologically as they thought they had a good team and momentum at the time, but Florida State deflated them and their season.

I'm showing 29 Teams in the Top 3 Tiers Currently (was expecting around 35-40).............The SEC only has 6 of these teams (5 really great, 1 good, but not elite).......Only 1 of those teams is in the SEC East...........The other 8 didn't make it to the Top 3 tiers............

Comments on SEC Teams not in the Top 3 Tiers (29)

Arkansas-------The classic we play in a tough conference team , but can't win a conference game .........New Mexico State can do that as well.....In Arky's defense they beat over-rated Northern Illinois and Texas Tech if that counts for anything.

Kentucky------They looked like Kentucky again tonight

Missouri-------Lost to Indiana at Home, Shutout at Home, Couldn't Even Get One Point in a Major Division Game

South Carolina-----Lost to Kentucky, destroyed by A&M on their own field so everyone thought A&M must be good (the big problem here is they aren't)

Vanderbilt--------Both wins over UMASS by 3 points and Charleston Southern by 1 point

Texas A&M---------Last time they showed a pulse they were playing SMU

Florida-------------At least they get a new coach.

Tennessee--------They play in a weak division so if they really are improving they have to beat teams like Florida at Home....

Best of luck..............That concludes Mid-Season Power Rating.....If ratings are posted again here it will be in the Bowl Season
