Michigan will host a Big Ten football game under the lights for the first time ever. The Wolverines and Penn State announced this week the two schools will play at night on Saturday, October 11. At present, the game will be televised by ESPN begining at 7 p.m. eastern. Michigan has played two night games at the Big House, in 2011 and last year, both against Notre Dame. The Wolverines will also play a night game at Notre Dame again this season.

2014 Schedule
Appalachian State, @Notre Dame, Miami, Oh., Utah, Minnesota, *Penn State, Open Date, @Michigan State, Indiana, @Northwestern, Open Date, Maryland, @Ohio State

After going 7-6 last year, many think Brady Hoke (26-13) needs to have a solid winning year or face a firing squad.

Glad to see the night games. You fall behind in November playing your games before lunch.

I do think Hoke is nearing the wall. I'm thinking they will need a great year from their defense, which they may get, but I think the O will struggle again.

I love night games RLR. There will be 109,901 plus showing their approval come October 11. I look forward to watching this one on television. New Penn State coach wanting to prove himself and Brady also needing to prove he belongs. Should be a pretty good matchup.

Used to HATE playing those 1:00 pm day games.

How does Michigan get to dictate when they'll play (night or day) in this day and age of ESPN/ABC/TV contracts? Same for LSU (who prefers night games)?

UF administration (and fans especially) have been bitching about the noon kickoffs in late August/early September for years....yet they still schedule noon, 12:30 kickoffs. It's FLORIDA for crying out loud. It's 90+ degrees, 100% humidity, and the dick-heads at the networks think it's a good idea to play at noon? Hell, anything before 6pm is brutal!

And.....the visiting teams (and their fans) literally "wilt" by the end of the 3rd quarter also. Those "dick-heads" you are referring to are sitting in air-conditioned sky boxes.......All the net-works care about is TV timing.....i.e. money $$$

This will be Brady Joke's final year. Wolverines will offer Jim Harbaugh the entire state and pray his ego can be fed by feuding with Urban Meyer for a while.

He has to win more than that. 7 wins like last year and he is gone.

You are right-on MSU.......7 wins at schools like Michigan (or Florida or Texas or Oklahoma etc.) just "don't hack-it". Could you see how long a Les Miles or a Nick Saban would last if they won (7) games at their schools a couple of years in a row..........Not only would they get fired, there would be "pure hell to pay" (across the board) for allowing the program to "disintegrate".
