</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey admits that Michael Turner's carries will be reduced this season.
"You can't run 370 times a season," Mularkey said. "If Michael does that, he's going to wear out over time." The Falcons will remain a run oriented offense, so Turner will still see a consistent 18-22 carries on a weekly basis. Though Jerious Norwood stands to benefit from an extra 30-40 touches, Burner remains worthy of a Top-6 fantasy selection.

I don't think this affects his fantasy value much. I also think he'll be below expectations.

You have to expect lower points after last season......and, he has to carry it less or else his career will be over in 3 years.......especially when you have Norwood.

Still, Kirwin makes a good point that Gonzalez will force a double team near the end zone, leaving one less defender in the box to stop the run. Turner could match last year's TD total even if he sees fewer carries and less yardage.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"We know that he can’t sustain 370 carries over a number of years," Smith said. "We definitely know that we have to reduce the load that we put on him this year." We project Turner to notch 315 carries in a run-based offense, and he remains a good bet to lead the league in rushing touchdowns.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Mularkey also recently said that Turner's carries will be reduced. We get the feeling that the Falcons are just sick of talking about the "Curse of 370." They'll make a conscious effort to keep him fresh, but expect Turner to carry it at least 315 times. It's a far cry from the 377 "The Burner" had last season, but plenty to finish as a top-five fantasy back.

Michael Turner - RB - Falcons Turner struggles when up against 3-4
Turner has a very tough matchup when the Falcons go to San Francisco this weekend. He is averaging just under 3.3 yards-per-carry against the 3-4, and the Niners have one of the better defenses in the league. The Falcons may try some screens and dump-offs to help open up the running game for Turner and Co. October 10

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"Physically, I feel the same," Turner said. "I’m still healthy. It’s not about 300 and some carries last year." Turner has just one 100-yard game on the season and is averaging 3.4 yards per carry. After Sunday's loss when he was outplayed by third-stringer Jason Snelling, Turner blamed his offensive line for not getting guys blocked. Turner has saved his owners with seven rushing touchdowns.

However, Glazer says the Falcons are "very optimistic" that Turner's injuy isn't as serious as most high ankle sprains. Turner has virtually no history of injuries and is only 27, so he figures to recover quickly. Still, Jason Snelling is a fair bet to pick up multiple starts. Jerious Norwood's (hip) status is uncertain for Week 11, but he'll also be worth adding in most leagues.

Turner almost certainly will sit out this week. The Falcons play the Bucs in Week 12 and Turner could be rested that week as well. We're considering Turner "week to week" for now, with Jason Snelling as the starter and Jerious Norwood (questionable, hip) his backup.

Even listing Turner as "doubtful" is generous; coach Mike Smith admits that he has no timetable for return. Turner is in danger of missing several weeks with a high ankle sprain. Jerious Norwood (hip) practiced Friday and is listed as questionable, but is unlikely to be a major threat to Jason Snelling's carries after sitting out for the last month. Snelling will start at the Giants.

Turner was listed as doubtful on the injury report and has no timetable for return. He is likely out for a couple of weeks with a high ankle sprain. Snelling and Aaron Stecker will try to fill in as best as they can for the Falcons. Struggling QB Matt Ryan will have to carry the offense with Turner absent.

The development is promising for his chances of playing in Week 13, but coach Mike Smith's admission that Turner has "no timetable" for return means he probably isn't ready to face the Bucs. Jerious Norwood (hip) practiced fully Wednesday, though Jason Snelling is very likely to be Atlanta's lead runner in the favorable matchup. Norwood hasn't played in six weeks.

It's surprising that the team would push Turner to return so quickly from a serious injury against such a beatable opponent. But Turner practiced both Thursday and Wednesday and is apparently looking and feeling good. If Turner is active against the Bucs' No. 32 run defense, he'll qualify as a borderline RB1. Jason Snelling will not be a fantasy option if Turner returns.
