Miami AD Blake James addressed the arrest in a statement, saying, "We are aware of the situation regarding Mark Walton and we have taken immediate action by suspending him from the team. We have no further comment at the time." Should this arrest and suspension have any far-reaching consequences

it could serve as a tough blow for the Hurricanes. Last season, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound then-true-freshman was an integral part of the Miami offense, racking up 1,054 all-purpose yards (461 yards rushing, 293 receiving, 300 kick return) and 10 touchdowns. He was a four-star recruit out of high school.

Just what Mark Richt needed. Walton wasn't going to be the starter but he was part
of a trio of backs Miami planned to use this season. Joe Yearby ran for over a 1000
yards last season and barring injury will start this fall. Miami also has a big back in
Gus Edwards (242 pounder) who Richt likes a lot.

DUI equals he will be back on the team when the season starts.

DUI is a 1 game suspension.

Miami is a private school and who knows. You are probably right Coach and Richt needs to
send a message.

Personally, I really like the potential of the Canes this season. Not like Mark inherited a
bunch of bums. There's some really good talent on this team. Beware of the these south
beach guys!

As a lifetime Canes fan I can finally say for the first time in years that they could possibly have a top 15-20 team this upcoming season(s)

It will be interesting to see what comes from this arrest ... really wont hurt too bad ... Gus the Bus is just as good

NY, Miami will be a preseason top 25 rated team when the polls come out.

I have them in the 18 to 22 range. Bet I don't miss it by much.

I like Richt...hope he does well in his home town.

Richt was a great hire. Miami needs a facilities upgrade, but if he can get top 10 recruiting classes they'll be competing for the ACC by next year.

Miami needs an on campus stadium badly.

Not sure the miles, but they play games 40 or more from the campus.

FAU and FIU have their own facility...why not Miami?

Its right around 17 miles from campus to Sun Life ... It takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.

Sun Life seats 75,000, The undergraduate enrollment at the U is about 10,000 ... they are lucky if they can even get half of the student-base to come, so how the hell are they supposed to fill up the other 70,000 seats ??

Something needs to be done. Kids don't want to go play D1 football in front of a few thousand fans.

NY Knight, thought it was much more than 17 miles...that's not as bad as I thought.

Still, nothing like a game on campus. Seems more important to everyone...especially
those attending the game. Parties, parents on campus and atmosphere. Miami needs
their own place to play. Hope the get a stadium soon!

I go back to Ole Miss, that little town comes alive with a home game. Love Oxford on
game day. Yes, even better than the capstone where the Tide play.
