Biden and Palin are set to debate October 2.

(CNN) — McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.
In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.
Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned — but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

So now McCain is pitching the notion that on Friday evening, we can count on him being hard at work on the "bailout" plan even though he himself has little or nothing to do with such legislation.

LOL at the idea of significant legislation of any kind being authored by John McCain.

Outside of McCain/Feingold which shit all over the First Amendment of the US Constitution, Johnny Mac has nothing else to show in almost three decades in Washington DC

The real goal here is to make sure Palin never has to debate. McCain will do everything possibly to put if off and run out the clock. They are deathly afraid of putting her on that stage.

Again, I say once more...she ain't ready for hardcore primetime.

Would you be if moosehunting was your hobby?

McCain is pulling a simple age old trick...it's a stunt and diversion.

Repugnants be proud and hold your heads high!

Real goal for the VP is to downplay expectations even more than they already are.

By the way

His stunt has at least put Bush's speech on the backburner (or as far back as it will go)

I mean what's worse for him than a terrible economic crisis & Bush leading the charge to solve it...reminding everyone he's still around.

May not work but it does do a few things.
