Intersting political move.

Let's see how the Obama camp responds.

Could work out for McCain's country first theme.

Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.

I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved. I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

The Whole Republican Party rest on HIS Shoulders Now.
His Vote will effect every campaign this November.
If he blows it it could be an Democratic LANDSLIde at the ballot box.
I sure hopes he stays with the thinking he shown and let another approach run the goverment.
Obama can get us out of this mess. Bush wants to pay all of his buddies on his way out the door.

how can obama get us outta this mess?

taking on more debt to create massive worker programs and such like FDR?

you can't fix bad debt....you just have to let it clear out.....all you can do is add more debt and try to inflate an economy that wants to deflate

which will lead to more problems even bigger ones...down the road

Obama called McCain privately at 8:30 this morning to propose a joint statement announcing this. 6 hours later McCain called back and agreed and then 2 minutes later put of his won press release making it sound like his big idea.

Clever political move, to put it nicely, by an opportunistic prick.

Obama went the classy route and gave McCain a chance to do it together and then McCain comes out like it was all his idea and he's "asking" Obama to agree. More playing politics.

How about instead of canceling the debate on Friday night, they switch the focus of the debate to economic issues, including the bailout stuff. Wouldn't that be good for the country?

Obama should put out a a statement saying that he's glad that McCain agreed to the proposal that Obama made to McCain this morning and glad that McCain will join Obama in focusing on the financial crisis.

How big of a prick must McCain be to put out a statement "calling on" Obama to join him, when it was Obama's idea in the first place? Is that what McCain's entire campaign is about -- co-opting Obama's ideas?

It's a he said & she said thing right now. Who knows who said what first.

McCain did beat him to the punch though.

This is a desperation move by McCain. NOTHING MORE. and all of you know it.

He's losing Pennsylvania by 9, Michigan by 6.

McCain hasn't voted in Washington since April 7, 2008.

McCain's suspension doesn't mean shit other than his sinking poll numbers.

Bzzt. Wrong.

McCain is doing this because he cares about the country.

Nice try on the political spin though.

McCain is desparate ... he was fuckt either way.

If he voted for the bailout, the fiscal conservatives would have called him Judas. The small government deregulator would be fuckt for handing out welfare checks.

If he votes against it, then the Dems have said they would vote against it. The economy would tank, and Obama would win in a landslide.
