McCain admits Palin was a "cold political calculation"

McCain has dug his own grave. What he has done is energize people in states that were already going to vote for him. So instead of winning Georgia by a little, he will win by alot. But at the same time he has lost virtually every swing state because swing states tend to be decided by more moderate voters.

So even if mccain pulls a miracle and gets this race close nationally, he has no chance to win the electoral college.

Biden was a governing decision because Obama is a confident guy. Or, as you might day, he's measuring the drapes.

I would think choosing a VP is always a political calculation.

Not completely. I think typically part of the calculation is someone who would help the prez govern and is qualified to be president. Not just who will draw extra votes.

And part of a political calculation is choosing someone that actually brings something to the table as far as experience, knowledge, wisdom. You know, all the factors a competent running mate would contribute. What does Palin have to offer? A wink and rallying hate?
