Been reading for a couple of years now, and decided to dive in. Good luck to all and a great hoops season, and thanks to all who have helped me stay in the black during cfb.

Houston -7 (1 unit). Penders' crew will keep pushing and run away late.

Oklahoma -30.5 (3 units)

MVSU played in Tempe on Friday night, where they played a very respectable game with ASU, losing only 64-80. On Saturday, they traveled all the way to Pullman to play WSU, where the road-weary Delta Devils get pounded 25-76 while shooting 16% fg and 12% from 3. Jump to Monday, and this team is now in Norman to take on the Sooners in the opeing round of the NIT.

This would be the same OU team that pounded 2008 NCAA Tourney team American Friday night. The OU defense hounded the Patriot League preseason POY Garrison Carr (18 pts, 45% 3pt in 2008) into a 4-15 fg, 1-6 3pt night. His running mate and last year's 2nd leading scorer at 12 ppg, Derrick Mercer, was held to 6 pts on 2-10 fg and 0-2 3pt.

I don't know if the Sooners are as committed to defense as the Cougars are under Bennett, but they are fresh and athletic, and it will be hard for the well-traveled Delta Devils to keep this one within 40. Blake Griffin, Tony Crocker, Willie Warren and the rest of the Sooners should have more than enough firepower to put this one out of sight, and then get rested for a probably match-up with Davidson on Tuesday.

i like mvsu here, but i don't bet OU games. i look for OU to build a big lead -- somewhere around 20 points -- at the half. i think the lead will hit 30 somewhere around the 15:00 mark in the 2nd before the starters start getting pulled and the play turns sloppy, after which i expect mvsu to play about even or slightly ahead. looking for OU to win by 25 here. good luck to you as i think this could go either way, but i simply think OU at -30 1/2 is too much this early.

Dawg- Thanks for the perspective, and you may very well be right. I just think there will be way too many tired legs to keep the Sooners from running this one up, even with substitutions and sloppy play. I look for somewhere around 88-45, which makes the Over look good as well.

I would be tired traveling for business from Mississippi to AZ, to WA, to OK, in a 5 day span, much less playing 3 games in 4 nights.

matthewsg's ncaa picks (1-1 +1.9 ytd)

1-1 ytd (+1.9 u)

Kentucky +18 (1 unit)

Not much time for a write-up. This line might be close if Hansbrough was playing. Might. This is a reaction to Ky's loss to VMI at home. It is not as though Ky still doesn't have any players. Meeks and Patterson would start for practically any team in the country. Throw in the fact that there truly is a rivalry between the two schools and the all-time wins list, and we will have a hotly-contested game. I see UNC winning by 12-15, but 18 is alot to cover against a Ky team coming off an embarrassing loss.
