There is a company in the UK, www.framedshare.co.uk through which your can still purchase one share of stock in Manchester United if you hurry. You can choose to have the certicate either framed or not.

The point is you do recive a real share and the certficate you get is quite impressive. The cost is somewhat reasonable though outrageous if you are concerned about just the value of the share alone.

My feeling [expressed on the website] is that you may have quite the collectible here as Malcolm Glazer marches through Manchester like Sherman through Atlanta. In any event it should provide a conversation piece, as of course you would display the certificate and not sell it back. Any thoughts on potential value as a collectible?

Sounds real good Fish. I've stopped by the watering hole on several occasions only to not find you there and I may have lost your number. Been busy with some business matters, however would really enjoy bending elbows. Lots to talk about.

Lets do it soon.

Other public soccer clubs in the UK in which you can buy as many shares of as you want include: Charlton Athletic, Birmingham City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premiership.

For all of you latent but well to do hooligans, you can acquire shares of Millwall in the Coca Cola League also Preston North End.

In the Scottish Premier League one can own a piece of Celtic and Heart of Midlothian. All of these are traded on the London Stock Exchange.

Hearts is a penny stock which has a current situation brewing that on a minor level may just [and I stress may] hold potential. Vladimir Romanov, a Lithuanian bank owner has acquired over 29% in the last four months. Also owns FK Kaunas perenial Lithuanian Champions and a club in the Ukraine. He talks of challenging the Old Firm within two years. Has three Lithuanian Internationals on the roster with more to come for sure.

I stress however that investing in Brit Soccer clubs is quite the gamble and perhaps [no for sure] a foolhardy thing to do unless one were to do so for sentimental reasons or simply as a longshot. Do not do so with more than you can afford to lose.

If you feel a need for speed a better investment would be International Speedway [ISCB] owners of all or parts of 12 Nascar tracks. Hard to imagine this not being a good investment loaded with upside potential.

Many different articles can be bought but are really only novelty value. Besides the famous one of selling patrs of the Moon, one of the most successful was selling a Square Foot of Welsh Land in certificate form. Needless to say, the only people who make money are the instigators. To give you an idea of worth, the 1958 FA CUP FINAL programme, which featured 7 of the players killed in the Munich air crash goes for £250-£300., so your share certificate has some way to go.
