A MAN in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region walked the streets naked for more than three hours to pay a 150,000 yuan (US$21,803) gambling debt.
The man, whose background was unknown, was seen walking nude along Minzu Avenue in the provincial capital of Nanning City about noon on Saturday. Two clothed men followed him in an apparent bid to make sure the man fulfilled his pledge to walk the streets nude, Nanguo Morning Post reported today.
According to the men following the nude guy, he was assured that he would not have to pay 150,000 yuan in interest on a soccer gambling debt if he completed the stunt, the report said.
The man acted normal and didn't make any indecent gestures. He remained silent the entire time, the report said.
He made several "sculpture-like" poses during his "performance," which shocked passersby, the report said.
The report said policemen were called, but the man refused to speak to the officers. He also refused to put on a pair of shorts offered by one of the cops, the report said.
As the man refused to talk to police, they couldn't arrest him, the report said. The officers eventually cornered him into nearby woods to avoid more public embarrassment, the report said.
The report did not say if the man's gambling debt was waived.
