From CBS Sports: "Police investigating a fight outside a Baton Rouge bar last night said LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and other LSU football players are believed to have been involved in the disturbance."

Now it is important to note that no one has been arrested or charged with anything here, but you would think that these players would have SOME sort of Common Sense and avoid these things. The stupidity of the College Football Player never ceases to amaze me.

My thoughts exactly when I heard this, this morning.

Baton Rouge police are investigating a bar fight early Friday that reportedly involved several LSU football players, including senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson, Sgt. Don Stone said.
Four people were hospitalized with minor injuries, Stone said.
Police are investigating the fight, but no arrests have been made, Stone said.
The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. at Shadys 623 E. Boyd Drive, south of the campus, Stone said.
Thursday was the last day of fall camp for LSU and the players had Friday off.
“We are aware of the incident that took place at an off-campus location at which some of our players were present,” said LSU Football Coach Les Miles.
“We don’t know to what extent our players were involved. We are trying to gather as much information as possible to get a better understanding of what exactly took place last night,” added Miles.
More information to come.

It seems like it is always just bad judgement, being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Common sense is not a course you take at University and these kids come from diverse backgrounds where good judgement and common sense just simply are not in the equation.

I keep thinking about Darron Thomas being at the wrong place at the wrong time on three separate occasions. Hmmm.
The more I think about that one I think the NCAA is going to get deeply involved in the true status of the car that Harris was driving that supposedly was leased by a "employee" of the school. Again, if anybody lied or lies about any of that shit the precedent has been set.

You would think that someone on the coaching staff would have a talk with these kids and explain to them what can happen. Granted most of these kids have the mentality of a 12 year old, but someone has to get the message across. Many of these kids come from the same background. They come from the hood, and have a hood mentality. They are terribly immature for their age. Someone has to kick them in the arse and get their attention, before they are killed in one of these altercations.

Seriously? You really think that the administration hasn't been over this with the teams?

College athletes at every single university in the nation are going to go out and drink. The football team held a scrimmage that day and did not have practice the following day.....THAT is a recipe for a night out. Now, all you need is a college tough guy to say something stupid to a QB who has been struggling for two years....and it's on!

This really is a stupid news story and doesn't deserve any attention at all.

Don't they pretty much encourage this kind of behavior in Louisiana? If he hadn't fought the guy for saying this, he would have automatically been assumed to be a homosexual. I don't think he'll get in much trouble over this, but I do think they probably threw him a beer party in celebration. IIIeeeeeeeee!!

I heard Jefferson was involved and threw a couple punches. The first sailed above the targets head, and the second glanced off the targets shinbone.

I do not agree that "incidents" like this don't deserve attention. A "story" can be fabricated and does not deserve attention. I do think student/athletes are judged on a different level than just students and that we often forget the ages of the athletes involved which begs the question, were these guys old enough to be in the bar. Being there at 2:00 AM shows bad judgement and the rest is just waiting to happen.

If I were coach Miles I would take the Oregon/Kelly/Thomas approach. The story should be Jefferson was asleep in the bar when the fight broke out, and being the leader he is spent all of his time and effort from the point on into breaking it up.
(I hope like hell they weren't driving a car that was being leased by an LSU employee. You can't reprimand someone who fell asleep in a bar any more than you can someone who was asleep and riding in a car (going 118 MPH and was full of Marijuana smoke). What has college football turned into?
