If you want to run up the score, their are ways to do it within the game. having tebow throwing the ball around late is a blatant low move. Have a backup in, a few passes in the name of getting him some work can be done.

Instead of handing the ball off to a fullback, hand it to a speedy tailback and see if he can get in. If he can, its on Miami, they gotta stop him.

But kicking a field goal is just insulting. We used to do that in college playing tecmo Bowl vs friends just for fun, its a total slap in the face if your up like 31-7 to kick a field goal on the last play. Never seen an actual coach pull that.

No upside at all for Florida. that is NOT the way to impress pollsters by making them dislike you for the blatant cheap shot. Recruits, whether they end up going to Miami or Florida can blatantly see through that too. Not the way to impress them, just the opposite really. low class move.

Oh yeah, thanks for the field goal scumbag, I middled the game because of it.

Funny thing is, Shannon said in a post game interview that recruits will take notice to that low blow.

I honestly think Urban hurt himself. With just about all the pollsters probably watching and lots of potential recruits watching, he made himself look bad.

For a team that would like to play for a national title this year, no sense in making a bad impression on voters.

Couldnt agree more, but it's not like his lack of class shocks me. Things like this usually come back to bite you in the ass.

Florida didn't lose any respect from poll voters, they lost respect from you pole smokers. Quit whining about it. Teams do this stuff every week in college.

No defense at all for what Florida did and certainly pollsters will not have a positive impression. Cheap slap in the face. If you'd like to disagree with me kenny B, do so. But the cheap attack doesnt impress me.

It definitely wasnt classy. No doubt about it.

However, this is an intense rivalry, both teams were talking crap all week, Miami used to run up the score on plenty of folks back in the day, Florida's Field Goal kicker has never had a career field goal in a UF uniorm and it was nice to get him a live kick in a night game atmosphere before heading off to Tennessee on the road, and Florida was almost the main victim of "poll dynamics" in 2006 because they didnt have any "style points" in their victories. It almost cost them a national title.

If you look at the AP voters who vote, there are plenty of voters on the west coast, plenty of voters in Wisconsin, and all walks of life that may not be able to catch the game. Maybe they skipped it, maybe they are covering their local teams, maybe they were out for a Saturday night dinner with their significant other. These guys dont get paid extra bucks to be a voter. A lot of them check box scores the next day. "Florida didnt cover".

Ohio State looked bad in victory, didnt cover, they moved down in the polls. Florida covered, looks like a blowout, they moved up 1 spot. So much for not impressing pollsters.

Florida boosters and alumni are tired of losing to Miami, tired of hearing their fans talk crap. They wanted Urban to stick it to them. Bottom line, Meyer makes a lot of money, he knows the people he has to keep happy for his job. Love him or hate him he knows how to run a football program and that is why Florida is a national contender every year.

Classy has Lloyd Carr shooting for par these days.

It DEFINITELY was not classy. But for all of the reasons listed above, I can easily see why he did it.

I respect that boxslayer. Not looking around too much, but I hadnt seen a single gator fan yet who agreed it wasnt the best move. really they could have toss sweep left there to a tailback, if he gets in, tough for Miami. really not running up the score. I think maybe Urban got caught up in the idea it was a great night for Florida already and people would be even more happy if theyu won their bets.

But you got to keep it more within the decent way to play so to speak of what to do when way up late.

By the way, FSU handed the ball off a few times late in the game in the red zone to the fullback up 62-0 on W Carolina and scored again. Handing to the fullback is pretty much the least scummy option other than taking a knee, so its OK. But i actually thought this was a case where FSU should have taken a knee. Up 62-0, It would have been the classier move.

I think meyer and Bellicheck have a bit in common in that they arent neccesarily good people, but you cant fault their coaching. They are very good coaches.

guys, the spread was 20.5-23.5, he was trying to cover the spread for those boosters who donate all that $$$...if they couldn't get a better number than 23.5 that's their fault.

i dont think you judge a person's character because they score points in a football game.

i'm not saying i think meyer is a good man or a bad man. i have no idea, i dont know the guy personally.

but i dont think kicking a field goal in a football game means someone is a bad person, regardless of score or time.

Exactly

I think that is pretty much point on, I alway find it hillarious when coaches say that they don't know what the line is.

this might sound funny, but in reality, its probably the truth.remember coach fran at texas a&m.he had a "special newsletter" for boosters that he sold for a couple of grand each.

Class? Randi did the same thing in 3 of his 6 total wins. He went for a 4th and 3 in one game with 3 minutes to go up 4tds to get more points. So this whole argument is bullshit by pissy FSU and Cane fans who are whining like little bitches. Both of you wish you had Meyer as your coach.

Maybe if Miami wasn't talking so much shit before the game they wouldn't have got it shoved down their throat at the end of the game..

I like the pro style offense better personally. The more NFL players the Canes put out the better they are at recruiting. I wanted Butchy to come back... Screw UNC.

Very likely UM padded the score with a FG to get the cover for the alums.

Keep 'em happy and keep the cash rollin' in.

Urban Crier is a joke. Plain and simple.

Oh yeah - 2 time national coach of the year, NC in hand, coached a heisman winner and had the #1 pick in the draft. He's just awful.:nohead::pope:
