WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin has launched a new political action committee called SarahPac, signaling that the Alaska Governor intends to remain a player in national politics even after her failed bid to become the country’s first female vice president.
"SarahPac will support local and national candidates who share Gov. Palin's ideas and goals for our country," says the PAC’s Web site, which promises that Palin will be "a strong voice for energy independence and reform."
A spokesperson for SarahPac confirmed that Palin is behind the group and said it was registered with the Federal Election Commission on Monday evening. The Web site went live on Tuesday morning and is already soliciting donations.
"The PAC is a smart thing to do because she’s getting so many speaking requests still, so if she gets a request from, say, Bob McDonnell in Virginia, she could do that travel out of her PAC money,” explained the spokesperson, noting that Palin has been in high demand from Republicans around the country since the campaign ended. In December, the governor traveled to Georgia to campaign for Republican Senate candidate Saxby Chambliss in that state's runoff election.

Palin posted a note on her Facebook page Tuesday afternoon promoting her new committee.
"Hi Friends, I wanted you all to be among the first to know that I've launched my new political action committee, SarahPAC, today," the post says, telling supporters to "stay tuned for updates."
The domain name "SarahPac.com" was registered on January 2 to Campaign Solutions, a Web consulting firm in northern Virginia with longstanding ties to John McCain, which processed online donations for the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee in 2008. The URL is set to expire in 2012, according to online records.
Rebecca Donatelli, the chairman of Campaign Solutions, confirmed her company is working for the group.
Calls to a Palin adviser in Alaska were not immediately returned.
UPDATE: According to a copy the FEC filing, SarahPac's statement of organization was filed by Virginia political consultant Timothy Crawford, who is listed on the paperwork as the group's treasurer. Reached by phone, Crawford told CNN he plans to sit down in the coming weeks with Palin to discuss her plans for the committee.

Why do you think she is such a threat to you.

i didn't say i considered her a threat. she's more of a liability. i respect her, but she proved she was not ready to be a big player. i was hoping she would take some time off to work on the kinks.

i was kind of hoping she'd lay low for about the next....97 freakin years.

you and me both

worst part is she will take the next 3 years to campaign for other republicans that are in danger of losing their seats, or for those trying to unseat a democrat. expect more seats to turn blue. thx sarah. you're hot, but not so bright

she could have some value if she stuck strictly with speaking engagements as she does have a loyal following. however, she needs to a) stay away from the media and b) quit whining about the media.

don't get too happy. give it time and reid and pelosi will annoy a lot of people and hurt their party just as the dems used bush against the pubs. palin could be an asset in the proper role, but i cringe when i hear the term "positioning herself for a run at the presidency".:smoking:

not really. the race tightened up -- as many expected it would -- after she came on board, but she was introduced a little too soon as the bounce she produced started to dip right before the economic crises took over. after that it was all obama. mccain was pretty much a heavy underdog the whole time except for when he pulled even in the polls after palin came on board. i can see him telling one of his aides to slap his forehead for him after the economy took a crap -- if only he had chosen romney! he woulda still lost considering the voter turnout, but at least election night would have been inetersting long enough to finish my 12 pack.

like i said, if palin is your guys best hope, then i'd put obama in as a lock for a 2nd term. she is too divisive within her own party. she's stupid(thought africa was a country), and the female vote won't go for her(which is what won it for obama).

females get jealous of other females. one thing i noticed with american woman. plus a lot of the females thought obama was hot. dude had 25 year olds like scarlett johansson wanting to fuck him.

obama is a lock for a 2nd term. unless he just totally fucks up. the fact that he took an overwhelming majority of the minority vote combined with the fact that the minority population is growing every year and the fact that the republican party has no clear leader, the only hope is to gain seats to help rebut the liberal agenda because at some point americans will say "enough of this shit". the old gray haired white man may never see the white house again. if i hadn't already lost my left nut to my book i would bet it on obama for a 2nd term.

Quoted for truth. I this this is 100% true and i really doubt even a poor performance will cost him reelection. He already has a built in excuse. W.

just noticed you "women won it for obama" comment. i don't know the exact breakdown, but something like 96% of black voters went for obama? what was funny to me though was california, where blacks turned out in huge numbers. they voted more than 60% against the gay marriage people. otherwise, they say that would have passed. so maybe the minority vote is more conservative than people give it credit for, maybe the republicans can figure out a strategy down the road.....

minorities have always been conservative, at least socially conservative in my view. whites are more liberal. its kind of odd when you think about it but its the truth. 95 percent of the gays and gay activists you see out there are white.

a 100 percent black vote wouldn't have been enough for obama if it wasn't for the women vote. i think women were 50/50. men like 56 44 mccain. i also agree with you, i don't think we'll see your typical president again in the united states. i'll still maintain to this day obama is the 6th mixed president though.
