Traveling to San Jose in Feb. with 12 guys. I'm in charge of running the annual golf trip. Chose Costa Rica because I have a few Books there and heard great things about Costa Rica in this forum. Some of us have off shore accounts and a few are looking for new outs. I'm wondering if any of the books offer complimentary services to clients when they are in their country. I'm looking primarily for golf, dinner, cocktail parties, transportation, info on places to go or anything to make our stay in San Jose and Guanacaste more enjoyable. Talked to Cust. Service at Skybook and Omni without much luck. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on contacts or sportsbooks that might help. Thanks.

If you guys put in some time in the casinos there you can get stuff arranged, especially the transportation and probably the golf if your play warrants it. I heard from a guy that came on a junket once that comp rates are generally a little more generous than US rates, but the games have bigger edges, especially that Rummy crap they play in most casinos.

Someone told me Mike Ditka sponsors golf and fishing junkets down there on occasion, since your location listed is just up the road from Chicago maybe you can look into that angle.

For golf I reccomend Valle de Sol in Santa Anna. About 20 minutes from San Jose. Nice course and they are very accomadating.

Check out this site...

Moe...

Check out www.crtourism.com The guy is a good guy and sets up quite a few people that I know, on a pretty regular basis. All his info is there and he should be able to set you up with everything you are looking for.

Just go to the Hotel Dey Rey. Drink, gamble, and pick up hookers. What is better than that? Oh yeah they have tv's and a restaurant too. :suomi: :hump: :dancefool  :banger: :103631605 :howdy:

Funny how all you Ticos and CR-based gringos always mention the Del Rey to tourists. You guys need to work on your "image" issues, hehe :greenguy:

I do admit the Del Rey is almost surreal. Some other bars around town you go into and there are only three "girls" and all of them are hitting you up hard. You tell them you are married and the double their efforts to get you. In the Del Rey there are like 100 "girls" and almost all of them don't even bother acknowledging you. Bar is so damn packed you can't even get a drink at times. Tables are full too so you look to sit down, but you can't find a chair because all the "girls" are sitting on them, but just busy gossiping with each other. A friend of mine went down for vacation after I had left last time and had to go see it. He remarked he thinks it has to be easier to get laid hanging out in a regular bar than going to the Del Rey.

Bill, there are other places in town where the girls do not descend on you like locust. I have been to the Del Rey twice. Once to gamble and once for 2 beers.

That touches on something I was thinking about. I can understand the convenience of inviting a professional back to your place but can it be that hard in CR to find a non-working girl at a regular bar? I would think a regular girl would be more caring as well.

Ql, actually many of the working girls down here are very cool and very nice. Nothing like the States.

Judge-

Glad to hear that the working girls are nice. Sorry but I didn't mean to imply that they weren't. I was just thinking that the non-working girls would have more of a genuine interest in a guy.

I imagine the working girls in CR are a lot like the ones in Tijuana where you will find many who are working to support their families rather than their drug habit or "boyfriend".

Some pretty fluent spanish will help so as nice look, there are tons of hot chicks on regular bars you will be able to pick up, like going to Escazu, TerraMall, Holligan's Heredia, Tragaldabas, and many others.
It's a matter of knowing the right places.

Thanks for the advice azg04. There's nothing worse than a gringo from del norte that expects everyone to speak his language and then gets pissed off because he can't communicate with anyone.

For me, it's a matter of respect to the host country. I will be boning up on my Spanish before visiting.
