Last nite I was watching the history channel on the Vikings.
The vikings were about to invade Paris,france when the leader of Paris,say "timeout" will give you anything you want just don't hurt us...Vikings said OK...after getting a shitload of free stuff...they went ahead and plundered and killed, and took the rest of the stuff.
Chirac would have called that diplomacy...hows that working out for ya???

That wasn't appeasement, that was extortion. The strong was extorting from the weak. That isn't the case with your examples. You're saying the weak frenchmanm were "appeasing" the Vikings and comparing that to the strong US, Israel, Europe, etc. appeasing their weaker counterparts. It's really the flipside.

Patriot, who cares. I like war! It makes more jobs and pulls people together regardless of race and color.I would relly like to see the USA take over the world and take the muslims and arabs to be our slaves.I would like to take the sheet off one of those broads that is dressed for holloween in the black sheets.The war,death,fighting,or peace will never end aslong as the Arabs and muslims are in YOUR world.

Come to think of it, this history does remind me of recent history. Vikes made demands on Paris knowing full well that they'd attack regardless of whether demands were met. Likewise, Bush made demands od Saddam knowinf full well he was going to attack regardless.
