10-1 winner over an 8/5 favorite in a nine horse field pays 65.50. Was expecting better. This is a clear case where the win bet would have been a much, much better return. Oh well. I'll take the winner to start.

Hi Mich, just got home from work and posted in your baseball thread, take a look at the 5th race and see if you would have used that horse, good start.

I did already, Joe. My friend Jerry already called me before I got home to tell me. He knows the angle that applies. I had already handicapped the turf races while I was sitting at my mechanic's. Yes I would have had that horse. But I don't think I would have used the #8 with him. I definitely would have used the #s 6 and 9. Seeing that price may have got me to use him with a few horses, but I can't honestly say. I was only going through my book looking for angle qualifiers.

PS My friend wasn't at the track either. He was babysitting dogs for his sister and watching TVG.

Had to work today and no chance to handicap, only looked at the results and looked at winners past performances and thought of you.
It's the time of year when I'm expecting some of the big priced horses to pop. Now through the summer. Especially at Saratoga.

Let's hope we're around to collect on them.

And .... let's hope we play them right. My buddy said that exacta paid over $1600.00

That's a real juicy price for that horse, Joe. Cutting back the distance and has won 2 of 5 starts at Saratoga. He has as good a chance as any of the other closers. Problem for me is that he's one of 8 or 9 horses who I am expecting to close in this race. I think it's possible that the #1 gets out alone and never looks back.

My friend did tell me that horse who won in the fifth came from the clouds. Both the first and second places in the turf race I bet (7th) both came off the pace as well. The #9 came from way back. So maybe it's a closing track. We'll soon find out. If it is I hope that #3 comes like a bastard. He can!

Nope. Second. Bad strategy by Rosario and / or his trainer. He never asked the #1 to get the lead and it cost him,. The #2 ran really easy fractions for this caliber of horse and of course had a ton left down the stretch. I thought that would be the #1 with that story. Nope.

Saratoga 9th #3 $4. WP and a $1. exacta box 1-3-5-10
4th, 2nd 3rd and 4th for my exacta, $20/0, was surprised the exacta only paid $39. for a 7-1 over a 5-1 horse so everybody must have boxed that exacta.
