Went up to the track for the Oaks yesterday. Got a lobster roll and fries at a little ice cream stand about a mile past the track before I went in. Had a ton of laughs with old track buddies and managed to knock down a 19-1 winner for my very first bet and a 42-1 horse under a 2-1 favorite for a big exacta later on. After the bought beers after winning, the lobster roll, and other losing bets I came home with about $120.00 more than I went in with. That in my opinion is a great day!
Today I won't be able to go or be here all afternoon as I have to go to a birthday party for my nephew's 5 year old and one year old. That nephew comes here every Christmas week and helps me make pasta sauce for all my friends, neighbors, and relatives. So when his wife handed me her homemade invitation a few weeks ago..... well party before Derby Day.
So I'll be here for some races but will miss a bunch of the day. Haven't really had a chance to form a Derby Opinion yet but I see some pretty good handicappers coming in on the board with their thoughts. Always nice to see the horse blood come around for the big race days.
Looks like the track is drying out from yesterday. Haven't had the time to see the afternoon forecast.
All are welcome to post in this thread. The only thing I ask is that you keep a running record of your results. For today if you just want to post Derby thoughts that's OK too. Thanks and good luck, today.
