<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Limbaugh baselessly compared Cindy Sheehan to Bill Burkett: "Her story is nothing more than forged documents"

Listen to this audio clip
Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh equated the actions of Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq, with those of Bill Burkett, the retired Texas Air National Guard officer who provided CBS' 60 Minutes with unauthenticated documents regarding President Bush's National Guard record. Sheehan is currently staging an anti-war protest outside Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Limbaugh said that Sheehan's "story is nothing more than forged documents."

Sheehan's "story" is, in fact, that her son died while fighting in Iraq. A Humvee mechanic, Spc. Casey Sheehan was one of seven U.S. soldiers killed in Baghdad's Sadr City on April 4, 2004, by rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire.

From the August 15 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:
LIMBAUGH: I mean, Cindy Sheehan is just Bill Burkett. Her story is nothing more than forged documents. There's nothing about it that's real, including the mainstream media's glomming onto it. It's not real. It's nothing more than an attempt. It's the latest effort made by the coordinated left.

come on doc, tell us about the real low. Your sides pawn, sheehan,
using unauthorized names of dead soldiers on those crosses illegally
erected on the side of the road. I understand there are some
real mad mommies of those great patriots.

You need to get authorization to use the names of soldiers who have died?

Wow - better tell ABC Sunday Morning - they run the list every week at the end of their news program as a vigil.

As far as illegally erected crosses - I guess the response is to strap on a piece of pipe and mow down the crosses under the cover of night hoping not to get caught.

Doc,

I wouldn't say this is a new low for Rush, just one in a series of many. I'd say his lowest most hypocrytical point was taking a hard stand against drugs while pimping his housemaid to score narcotics for him.

As far as a draft-dodging chickenhawks criticizing mothers of dead soldiers, that's just par for the course when it comes to the right wing.

It sounds like you have real contempt for freedom of expression.

I have no respect for a man who makes a living out of mocking others as Limbaugh does

Just when you think Limpbag can't go any lower he dredges another 6 feet out of the cesspool and comes up with another big tasty turd between his teeth.

sons name on one of sheehans crosses.

Hey, I can't "think" for any of these mothers. You're assuming that all these names are there without permission. Are you 100% sure? If they aren't and the families complained, did Sheehan refuse to remove the names?

Lots of assuming and presumption going on.

A person that affects the way people think and vote is more than an entertainer. When a substantial number of people take his "entertainment" as fact, that is dangerous.
He's nothing more than a rabble rouser in my book.

Limbaugh's contract with Premiere Radio Networks runs through 2009. In July of 2001 Limbaugh signed a contract extension, reportedly worth $285 million. After the past four years, a period in which he survived an addiction to prescription painkillers and a third divorce, Limbaugh appears unsinkable. "I've always said I'm never going to retire," he once declared, "until every American agrees with me."

Sam,

My only issue with Limbaugh is the same as it has been for years.

As a public figure, to equate women in our society who want equal rights (equal pay) as Nazi's? Sorry, I'm all for shock radio and the sillyness that entertains both sides - but look where it's lead us. We have people on Air America referring to Bush supporters "goose stepping". We have Hannity and Coulter casually referring to anyone who disagrees with bush as "a terrorist lover" or "haters of America"

I'll go after anyone in here who wants to throw darts and insults, but public figures with that kind of audience are worse than howard stern, since no one listens to stern for news updates.

So is Michael Moore dangerous? Or is it a danger only if you don't agree with the entertainer is saying?
