Doc,
Didn't say Schilling was gonna change anyone's voting preference.
Why is he honorable?
A. Cause he pitched well under great pressure - big money pitcher.
B. Cuase he pitched thru pain - showed mental and physical courage.
C. Cause he's by all accounts a family man, hasn't been in trouble with the law.
D. Cause by all accounts he is a good teammate.
E. Cause I'm a biased Red Sox fan which I readily admit.
IMO, That doesn't put him in the class of the brave veterans that fought in wars, but still honorable.
Btw, I'm still voting for Kerry regardless. I wouldn't ever let any celebrity's opinion sway mine nor do I think 99.9% of the public do. What they can do is draw more attention to a cause or a candidate and that can help.
Whether that's right or wrong, don't know and don't care, it's a fact of life. What is clear is that Repubs prattle on about nobody should pay attention to celebrities after they announce people like Springsteen and Dave Matthews and then of course immediately trumpet Schwarzenegger and Schilling. I like to think of it as just one more double standard for Republicans in a long list.
