Liberal actress says tea parties were racist

By Amanda Carpenter on April 17, 2009 into The Back Story
Liberal actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo, in all seriousness, said activists who attended tea parties are racists with dysfunctional brains in a recent prime-time television appearance.

"Let's be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It's not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea party was about. They don't know their history at all. It's about hating a black man in the White House," she said on MSNBC's "The Countdown" with Keith Olbermann Thursday evening. "This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. There is no way around that."
Olbermann did not once try to challenge her on those assertions.

The actress went on to describe the brain size of typical "right-winger, Republican or conservative or your average white power activist."
"Their synapses are misfiring. ... It is a neurological problem we are dealing with," she said. This isn't the first time she's offered this analysis, either. Ms. Garofalo said similar things about Alaskan GOP Governor Sarah Palin's brain last February in an interview with an environmental blog.
The actress went on to bash the GOP on MSNBC Thursday because it had "crystallized into the white power movement" as well as Fox News, which she said has captured the "Klan demo[graphic]."
"Who else is Fox talking to? Urban older white guys and their girlfriends who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome," she said.
Ironically, Ms. Garofalo is currently playing a role on the drama 24, which is aired by the Fox Broadcasting Company and is popular among conservative circles.

(In his Thursday night post, “Garofalo: Tea Party Goers Are Racists Who Hate Black President,”

That Garofalo video is disgusting.

I hope and pray she keeps spewing out her rhetoric, because her
verbal diarrhea is what most flaming liberals think but won't
actually verbalize.

She's stupid enough to say that these tax protests were because
Obama is black!!! Nice try at the race card.

Man I hope she keeps it up.

I guess you guys can't see that this tea party nonsense is pushing away the moderate Republicans and the Independents.

The more you show the world how insane you are, the more you isolate yourselves and the more power you give to Obama.

At this rate, Obama is going to have to get caught on video drinking the blood of Christian babies while masterbating to the Koran to keep from being re-elected.

Tea baggers are the loudest group out there, but they cannot win national elections without the people they are pushing away.

This has nothing to do with "national elections" and Republicans vs. Democrats. It has to do with people who are sick and tired of
a government that is fiscally raping the people. Like many on
the videos were saying: "Throw them all out," and I agree with
that sentiment.

I just love how the left says how people should not be "labled", but it is ok to "lable" people as rednecks, uneducated, or racists if they do not agree with the left. It would help the left is someone came out and denounced this loon, but no one has. This just shows how far left the democratic party is!

That's exactly why I hope she keeps spewing out her rhetoric, it's
so blatantly ignorant and hate-filled.

She sounds angry, ignorant and racist in my opinion. Unfortunately, this just be how some people are and they just roll that way.

nonsense? I think these tea parties are as American as apple pie. Were the Iraq war protests nonsense? Disagree with them if you want to but, to exercise your first amendment rights and protest against what you feel is a tyrannical govt is not nonsense my friend.

I'm not arguing against the right to protest. I'm merely observing self-inflicted damage being done as a result.

DEAC,
So where were these tea parties when Bush was President?
Obviously the people saw no need.

What?

It took 230 years for our national debt to get to $4.5 trillion. Bush inherited a budget surplus and then doubled the debt in 8 years.

And people sat on their hands.

Bush nationalized AIG, FNM, and FRE. Bush sent out economic stimulus checks. Bush started a war that was costing $10 billion a month.

And people sat on their hands.

Now we have a black Democrat in the White House for less than 3 months and the very same people who sat on their hands for the last 8 years are going nuts.

It's selective outrage.
