PPP you're missing the point here. Stern and Letterman, at least when I was listening to them, had a huge feud going on so Stern found a guy that sounds exactly like Letterman to impersonate him. That is NOT Dave Letterman on the call, it's "Evil Dave", a character the Stern crew hired to act as if it is DL. Evil Dave is actually Dave Van Dam, by the way, and he's a celebrity impressionist.

You're under the impression it was a skit Dave Letterman did that Stern was just replaying but that's not the case, which of course is why it's humorous

Personally I think the real letterman is a complete tool, which is why I like Evil Dave so much

Not really an impressionist, just some guy who sounds like Letteman, on the phone he just reads notes the writers keep handing him. It works brilliantly

Stern likes Letterman, at least more than most guys in comedy. If there was a time when he didn't, it didn't last all that long
