Oregon v. LSU ... LSU -1.5
Boise State v. Georgia ... UGA -4
Minny v. USC ... USC -27.5
Tulsa v. Oklahoma ... OU -34
Rice v. Texas ... UT -20.5

Last season there was a serious amount of big chalk lines that did not cash the first couple of weekends. I'm going to be looking at going against some of the heavy chalk this season. I think college football talent has made these teams a little more even in the first week of play.

Yeap. I'm all over that USC line. Uncharacteristic of them to play up or down to their competition but that's exactly what happened all last season. I'll take the points if that line is anything close to being right SoonerBS.

If OU is laying 34-36 then give me Tulsa all day long. OU has FSU and Mizzou in back to back weeks after Tulsa. Line will probably be more like OU-24.5 though.

i guess it depends on what your definition of "big chalk" is

2 years ago, big chalk did well in weeks 1 and 2. so....unless something changed starting in 2010 i'm not sure there's anything statistically significant?

Oregon v. LSU ... i figure this to open around pickem and get bet up to -2.5
Boise State v. Georgia ... open uga -4 and bet up to -6
Minny v. USC ... USC -27.5. i'm lost on this one. usc is always a big money getter but they didnt earn their money last year. add ncaa penalities to that. i have no feel for what the perception of USC football will be, but undoubtedly the public will love them
Tulsa v. Oklahoma ... OU -34...they'll win by 50.
Rice v. Texas ... UT -20.5. i think this opens higher...23, 24...and gets bet down. Normally public will pound texas but there are a lot of people down on them still. austin paper just enhances the perception of another down year. who can blame them
