I'm amazed that people do nothing about the Congress as it continues to destroy the country.

As I do every election cycle, I will be voting for different faces to represent me in both the House and the Senate.

Both houses of the Congress continue to thwart the will of the people as they kiss the bums of their particular special interests.

The range of issues they could reach consenus on runs from energy to education to the legalization of certain drugs, to the economy.

Meanwhile, the media has turned from being the governments watchdog to being ideological lapdogs as they skewer private citizens who have the nerve to ask tough questions while ignoring the sexual peccadillo's and arrogant threats of some congressmen.

We can argue forever about the ideology and the candidates we support, but all of us have to agree that the Congress does not represent the will of the people and the media has become nothing but a propaganda wing for the two parties and the special interests they represent.

In my opinion, the Congress has become an enemy of the people.

The problem is voting for new people may be good for the Country but can be bad for your District and/or State.

Normally when electing a Congressman I vote for who is best for my district, when voting for a Senator I vote based on who is best for my State.

In most cases a powerful encumbant is better.

Nice generalistic rant BB.

Do you have any specific examples so that we can unite to help you correct them.

I'm not trying to be insulting, but that is the crux of the problem - how can something be bad for the country and be good for your district or state? It stands to reason that anything bad for the country is ultimately bad for your district or state.

Take a look at the bailout which was bad for everyone - the legislation that was good for a few districts and states led to the situation where two government institutions and so many banks failed.

Anyone with a 401k got royally fukked - and that includes the people in the districts and states that initially benefited.

Meanwhile, the price of energy might be off of the radar right now but as the world economy improves, the cost of energy will again sky rocket - and what are the idiots in Congress doing. Everyone in the nation will suffer.

You can keep voting for the traitors who have placed the nation in such a tenuous position, and you can continue to pay the price that such support engenders.

If you don't understand the generalistic situation right now, any examples I could site for you would be a waste of time.

You continue to look at all of this through a partisan lense rather than as an American (although your icon leads me to believe you might be Welsh or Scotch).

Whether its Rush Limbaugh or the NY Times, whether it's Nancy Pelosi or Roy Blunt - they're all kissing the bums of special interests and ignoring the needs of their constituents.

Keep up the same support and you'll be paying $4 a gallon within a year.

Well, I *cough* agree here with the aging fellow.

I'm poised to vote against every incumbent and for 3rd party candidates.

In my state I will be voting against both incumbent Senator Mark Pryor (D) and incumbent House Rep. John Boozman (R).

I sometimes wish these ballots, rather than having the straight party option, had instead, a straight anti-incumbent option.

I'm not insulted, but I'm shocked you don't think something can be good for the State/District but bad for the Country.

How about Earmarks? My Senator gets them, it's good for my state.

Beyond that It's not like every bill has equal National impact. If you lived near Yucca Mountain odds are you'd want your State Reps to fight dumping Waste there.
