I am the most recognized poster worldwide and see lots of clowns using my names in poker rooms or derivatives of it for whatever reason like fame, ect

I was wondering am I entitled to a percentage of their winnings especially a tourney?? I would think they have to ask my permission first and we then work out a finanancial settlement like they do with websites, ect.

A few guys enterered the WS of poker with it, say they win?? A good thing I would assume with my name tagged to it but I want some props for it whether money or vacations.

I know guys that are good players and using my name, what are my options??

Thanks

Of course your are entitled to a percent of their winnings, but it works both ways you have to pay an equal share of their losses.

i think "jj gold" should be exempt from the trademark laws and declared public domain like "kleenex" and "xerox".

I agree blue...its as household a name as clorox is for cleaning mold and mildew....it should be pattened

also BARRELED In needs to be tradmarked very soon before that is stolen as well

A points that I have to make here.

First of all, JJ, not everyone knows who you are like you think.

First of all, GOLD is a last name. It could be someone's initials with their last name. Some people go by the nickname JJ as well.

Now if someone wins a poker tournament online without any real exposure, then that will NOT entitle you to any fee. If they were on TV and used your ACTUAL NAME, then MAYBE you have a case, but then you have to factor in all of their losses into the equation as well.

I won $12,000 last year in an online poker tournament, but have lost quite a bit at times as well. SO you wouldnt be entitled to a % of the $12,000. Only after we factor in entry fees and deduct them from the $12000

As I recall Spike Lee tried a similar litigation against Spike TV ... he manage to keep them of the air for a month or two but lost eventually. He got barreled in with legal fees.
