League 4 - Southeast division

Vick in A Box vs. A rub and a tug (i.e. my team)

Vick in A Box is stacked, except perhaps at QB (Carson Palmer, who has a favorable matchup). His kicking situation isn't great, but he racked up 15.5 with Jay Feely on Thursday, about the best you can ever expect. I bypassed the Jets D/ST for Philly. The Jets D/ST put up over 24, which I'd take right now.

My QB is Brady. There's been mystery surrounding his status. I never believed he wouldn't play (still time for him to be scratched). My primary backup is Matt Ryan, who's out (I wanted to draft Matt Schaub, but goddamn auto-pick selected him right before my turn).

Got a somewhat bad break with DeSean Jackson being out. My roster has pretty good depth and I plugged in Percy Harvin. My running back situation has been has been a patchwork operation all season. I now have 5 serviceable RB's (Rashard Mendenhall, Ryan Grant, Knowshon Moreno, LeSean McCoy, and Jamaal Charles). Mendenhall is in. The other spot is a tossup and I went with Charles. He's racked up 25 or so points in each of the last 3 weeks. I'd be pleasantly surprised if I didn't put a stop to that.

"Vick in the Box" (Bennyshoe) has Ray Rice, who plays Monday night. I hope to have at least a 20 point cushion going into that game (I'm gonna need Brady to throw TD's to someone other than Welker).

When the dust finally settled on Sunday, my team submitted its document and put up a robust 169.30 points A number that should win just about any matchup. However, the "Vick in A Box" squad is super potent and currently has a total of 137.00 points with Ray Rice playing tonight. The lead is 32.30. The odds are against it, but Ray Rice is capable of achieving that total. It was looking like it was going to be around a 22 point lead late in the AZ/Minn game, but that last 31 yard TD to Percy Harvin gave me an extra 10 points. I found it exceptionally irritating that AZ kept kicking away from Harvin.

Before that last TD, I was lamenting two two things. One that was within my control and one that wasn't. On Tuesday, I had installed Knowshon Moreno as one my RBs. Early Sunday I switched to Jamaal Charles. Moreno scored 2 TDs and produced 7.9 pts more than Charles. It remains to be seen if that decision is going to make the difference. The other was in the Eagle/Falcon game. I played the Eagle D/ST and they had a strong game that included a defensive TD. I also had Tony Gonzales at TE. On the last play of the game, Redmond tries to hit Gonzales in the endzone (on a 1 yard pass), but throws it a little behind him. The ball goes of his hands, hits the defender, and deflects into the hands of Roddy White for a TD with no time left. Instead of getting 10 points for a shutout, the Eagles D/ST gets 6 for allowing 7 points. At least if Gonzales catches the ball, my team gets another 7.1 points. If it hits the ground, my team has 4 more points.

Ray Rice puts up an uncharacteristic 10.50 points, a season low. My team ties for the division with "Vick in a box", both at 18-8. However, my division record is 12-1 (only division loss by 1.6 points. Also had some close wins) and beat "Vick in a box" all 3 times we met.

Congrats. Ray Rice had a tough night as did the whole Ravens offense. I was pulling for Green Bay tonight and the under (betting) but somehow hoped Rice would manage some points.

When I saw he couldn't get anything done after the 1st half, I gave up that hope.

At least I made it to the playoffs where anything is possible!

I knew I couldn't win this week without putting up a boatload of points. You have the #1 and #3 RBs, along with the #3 and #4 WRs (they both might move up after this week). If you could ever get Carson Palmer to throw multiple TDs, you'd be practically unbeatable. If I were setting odds, I'd make you the (slight) favorite to win the playoffs.
