I've heard this rumor on other message boards, but had not seen a link.
It's not a "bad" hire. He comes from very good pedigree. He'll be the second Pete Carroll assistant to come to the SEC as a Head Coach. Orgeron failed....but, personally, I think it's easier for an offensive minded coach to succeed as a first time head coach rather than a defensive one (Stoops is an exception. We'll see regarding Pelini). Anyhow, if Kiffin uses the principles that Pete Carroll taught him he should/could succeed. But, he's still go to contend w/ the SEC East - Meyer, Richt, Spurrier....
