La. Tech +11/ Michigan State

Grab this number now. Tech will have an excellent chance to win this game outright and is a great selection as a moneyline play. MSU has beefed up their stats against comp. that is a step below Tech. State is doing some things well on offense, but Tech is all to familiar with this John L. Smith scheme. Tech will field the best D STATE has faced thus far, and if the Spartans thought Rutgers moved the ball well in the air, wait till McCown gets going. STATE has had great defensive efforts against the run this year but that will come to an end this week. STATE will suprise some teams in the BIG10 this year, but they will be the ones suprised here.

Good to hear from you ChiTown. Haven't yet looked at next week's line up, but this one is now at the top of the list. Glad to see you back.

Sorry, I can't agree with you on this one. I am from North Louisiana and very familiar with La. Tech. They are just not defensively capable of stopping anyone this year. Forget about the past years upsets, this team is going to get BIG numbers hung on them.

Lousiana Tech does not have the players on either side of the ball to keep up with Michigan State. I'd take Michigan as long as you are laying less than 2 TD's.

Watched Mich St/Rutgers game Sat and think La Tech will score on them, on the flip side La Tech probably will get 40 or so hung on them like Rutgers. If you get a total take a look at "over" . Weather looks good for this weekend there so I'll be on it unless the number is ridiculous. GL

Thanks for the input fellas. When I took a look at what JL Smith was looking to do this season, I thought STATE games would be big play upon big play. Defensive scemes that let up big plays and a wide open o that leads to bombs and Ints the other way for scores. So far, they have not dissappointed. About La. Tech, I was high on them last season and played them when they made the trip to Penn St.Turnovers really cost them as PSU pulled away in the 2nd half. McCown is an experienced QB that should pick apart this SLOW defense for STATE. The 4 rush yds. STATE has allowed so far is an abberation. Rutgers is one of the WORST in D1 and Western was all to quick to pass against a weak D Backfield. Smoker is playing well, but La Tech is defineitly in this one to the end. LSU Pete thanks for the LA Tech info, but you will see that these 2 teams are carbon copies of one another.

So. Miss -4'/ Memphis

A few things working against Memphis in this one. First is the let down factor after pulling off an impressive offensive performance against Ole Miss. Second is their Tradition of going to Hattiesburg and laying down, last 3 visits were losses as follows; 14-33, 3-24, 3-45. Pretty lopsided to say the least. Third, So. Miss wants to get back to being the dominant team in the conf. and they have the d to do that this year. After the CAL game (a 2-34 loss) they notched a win on the road against an average, but experienced UAB squad on a thursday night. A little extra time to prepare for the conf. season never hurts. So. Miss will be waiting to pounce on the Tigers here with a faster, stronger D than the one Memphis faced a week ago. 27-10 is a reasonable final to this one.

No play on mich state, but i wonder how big this line might be if state did not blow up last year.

So. Miss was handled by uab: out gained and uab had 4 turn overs that lead to 14 points. On the other hand, Memphis cranked on ole miss--did them up for 23-0 in the 4th quarter. Memphis turned it over deep twice; otherwise, it is a bigger margin. I say play memhphis.

Had to go back a ways to find this post, but couldn't agree more with your LaTech/MSU play ChiTown. As usual very solid info. Let's hope we have a winner here.

Trips to Hattiesburg will be difficult this season fellas, the points will be hard to find for the opposing teams.
Remember this when Nebraska pays a visit 2 Thursdays from now.
