I would not go that far but the problem is it is a lot closer than people think. Van Gundy also said it was very close. If you do not think that Lebron and Koby are close to Jordan then you are flat out wrong. Of course the Jordan fantatics will be saying 50 (or 500) years from now that Jordan was the best and nobody is close. He might be the best but the gap is very close. Jordan teams never had to play the great Laker, Celtic or Piston teams. Instead they play decent Utah, Seattle and Phoenix teams in the finals. If they had to play the great Bird/Magic teams they would have lost a few more and suddenly things would change.

62 points in three quarters against the #1 team in the Western Conference. Kobe scores more points through 3 quarters than the entire Dallas team 62-61..something NOBODY has EVER done... he doesn't play in the fourth quarter....truly remarkable....

Yes and I put Kobe in the Top 5 all time....You guys always forget Big Bill from the Celts and Oscar robertson...Those guys were amazing

NOONE was Be like MIKE......NOONE

Kobe is the BEST player in the game right now....Lebron is a distance 2nd...Lebron in 3 years will be the best in the league

Jordan was a BEAST....HE NEVER LOST! Do you see that..;once he hit his primes he NEVER LOST

Don't give me this BS about weak teams....There are more weak ass teams and more foul calls for the offensice player then ever before

NO more hard fouls or you might be ejected....Let Mahorn lay a foul on Kobe 5 times a noght and see what he does

Jordan #1...fight for #2 will rage for a very long time

Let Kobe rip off 2 more stright and we will talk

I would actually have to agree with Mark Jackson here. Remember, Jordan is 46-years-old

Thanks Ted Williams.

I have to agree with the fact that Kobe is closer to MJ than most think.

While most attributes Pip's success to MJ, the 2nd and 3rd best players on the Bulls (Pipp/Grant and Pipp/Rodman) were better than the anyone else on the Lakers. Kobe did it this year with many role players, the only way the guys on this Laker team are going to the HOF, is the same way you and I are, by buying a ticket.

I am Lebron Fan, but Kobe is better than Lebron right now. Until LBJ becomes a legit shooting threat, he won't better than 23 or 24.

Don't count Lebron out yet.

But for the first three championships, Kobe was the Lakers 2nd best player. The other two times he made the Finals and lost he was not the best player on the court. Though he deserves credit for being one of the best those five years, it is not close to Jordan level

Even before Pippen and Grant became All-Stars, the Bulls never went through the slump the Lakers hit in 05 to 07. Even before Pippen and Grant helped Jordan win championships, Jordan was the best player on the court when they lost to the Pistons

I honestly have no idea how close most people think Jordan and Bryant are. I only know that the difference between the best player in history (Jordan) and whomever is second, is greater than the distance between second and tenth (around where Bryant is now)
