Just wanting to start the conversation (all Rivals rankings)...

#1 John Wall 5*
#2 DeMarcus Cousins 5*
#22 Daniel Orton 5*
#23 Eric Bledsoe 5*
#40 Jon Hood 4*
JC Darnell Dodson 4* (they said with this class, he would have been a top 30 player)

Looks better than the Fab Five (on paper).
What do you think

Fab Five was Epic in 91
Duke had one with Cherokee Parks i think, UNC and Kansas have had 5 of top 100 or so a few times

4 of top 23?

yeah probably best ever, but how many stay more than 1 yr? they may never develop and enter draft too early and peak in the NBA

I would say Wall is for sure gone after 1 year and probably Cousins.

The thing is ... Calipari will continue to reload. If you look at the top 25 for 2010, I think around 20 of them has Kentucky in their top 5 choices.

I think Ohio St. a few years ago with Conley, Oden, Cook etc ... was pretty good as well.

see. what i wonder is would you rather have the #1 overall for 1 year? or the #30 for 4 years ? im not saying it wont work at UK, no doubt the class is outstanding and i sure wish they were all headed to Knoxville instead . but Calipari didnt win any titles with his 1 and done Thaddeous Youngs in Memphis. do you want a program or a farm team for the NBA lottery ? its something the top tier coaches have to struggle with during recruiting, its fun to watch

I agree im a huge buckeye fan and thad matta has pretty much said he isnt going to recruit one and done players as hard as he usually has after the bj mullens debacle.

Didn't Thaddeus Young go to Gtech?? Memphis has had Rose, Evans and Dajuan Wagner that were 1 and done that I can think of off the top of my head. He has also had guys like CDR, Dorsey, Antonio Anderson, Darius Washington stayed 2 years if I think. Not all 1 and out. Boheim wouldn't wish that Carmelo didn't come bc of it. Beasley single handidly got Kstate back on the map a little bit as well.

the thing is ... if UK lands a couple one and done players with some good 4 year role players, they will be straight. I am sure he won't get 4 one and done players in one year.

i think in UK's situation 1 and done is fine with Patterson and probably Meeks coming back

i wasnt saying getting talent is a ever a bad thing - just saying despite being top 10 players they may have minimal impact on the program

Bob Huggins got KState back on the map temporarily. 5 years from now they be irrelevant again.

Carmelo was a special player and still is. Its not a debate just food for thought

would you rather have Hansborough for 4 or Derrick Rose for 1 ?

Wall and Cousins are a lock to leave after one year.

Calipari always brings in one and done kids. He bends rules academically, enrolls kids in "Sports Coaching" programs (Not a joke they exist), kids do not have to attend class, and always lands a couple top guys. Places like Kentucky and Memphis do not care what it takes to win as long as they win. They look the other way on the academic stuff.

Can not wait to see the report from Memphis on these recruiting violations. Memphis must hate Calipari. Comes in, wins, but leaves when the NCAA comes into investigate for another team. Joke.

* How does UK look the other way on academic issues? We have one of the highest graduation rate in the NCAA and usually lead the nation in GPA per student athletes? Top 5 in all time academic all-americans. lol at that statement.

Also ... have you read the report?
Cal is not even listed in it.

It is all on Rose. Memphis has said they have enough evidence to disregard anything the NCAA throws at them. They have wrote a 400 page paper supposedly about the allegations (they knew since January).

A letter to Cal from the NCAA said Cal and UK are not even under investigation and will face no sanctions.
Here it is: http://www.courier-journal.com/assets/B2135763529.PDF

Cal & UK will not face any sanctions from this (and I doubt Memphis will either). 95% of the allegations in the report is against Memphis womens golf team.

THE FACTS:
(1) Calipari is not named in any allegation. Neither is any other Memphis current or former men's assistant coach or basketball staff member.

(2) Rose's (alleged) cheating on the SAT test came before he signed a LOI with Memphis. This incident supposedly occurred in a city 10 hours from Memphis.

(3) UK knew about this months ago. Calipari told them. Memphis told them. The NCAA told them. Afterward, the NCAA cleared Calipari of any wrongdoing to such a degree that it satisfied the people at UK completely. In fact, UK were so convinced that they even gave Calipari a record contract.

(4) Barnhart KNEW this day was coming back on April 1st. This is why he talked for the first five minutes of his introduction about NCAA compliance, integrity, academics.

(5) Calipari has personally been sent a letter by the NCAA, clearing him of any wrongdoing or potential pentalties. He is being asked to testify on June 6th because that is what protocol is in these cases. He has agreed to do so.

(6) This is not a new investigation. It has been going on for 18 months. In these 18 months, the NCAA has managed to find ZERO evidence implicating Calipari in any way.

(7) Memphis, despite knowing of the NCAA investigation, fought HARD to keep Calipari. They even exceeded UK offer. This makes no sense if they felt he was involved in any way.... Read More

(8) Rose has claimed complete innocence in this. Also, A hand-writing expert has verified that, in fact, it's Rose's handwriting on the SAT answer sheet. Memphis had this done at their own expense.

(9) Josh Pastner, despite knowing all of this, agreed to become the Memphis head coach quickly. Assistant coaches were hired quicky and with full knowledge. Recruits were signed.

Definitely a good class. I think that's Calipari's best coaching attribute. It may be disputed, but personally I don't think he's a great coach..

Cal = No class. And by hiring him now UK falls right in there with Cal. He recruits players and gives their handlers "jobs" with the school. UK just gave Wall a scholarship and he has pending felony charges against him. This is the typical thing you will now see at UK with Cal now coaching there.

Sweet stats about your graduation rates and GPA. That was all pre-Calipari. And who cares about GPA when his kids are enrolled in "Sports Coaching Programs". I am sure it is real hard to earn a 3.0 in that.

1. UK gave Wall a scholarship.
- So did Duke, Miami, Florida, NC State, Kansas and many other schools offered him a scholarship. I guess that could be said for all those schools as well.
-There is no pending charges against Wall. He already went and just has to do some community service (never pleaded guilty) and it will be erased off this record. So what ... he went into a empty house with his girl to get his groove on ... wow, what a horrible high school kid. lol

2. Every school gives handlers jobs (and actually he has only done this one time). Nothing in the rules that says you can't do that. Baylor hired Clifton (Wall's handler) to try and get him to go there.

3. When Calipari took over at the University of Massachusetts the graduation rate was 15 percent; when he left it was 80 percent. He said when he took the Memphis job their graduation rate was 0 percent and when he left 19 of 22 seniors had graduated.

Learn the facts before you just go off assumption.

Calipari is dirrrrrrrrty i think.....he was dirty at memphis and i think he is dirty at kentucky. i understand how he got away with it at memphis but i always thought that programs such as kentucky, duke, unc, ucla, indiana ect. were more scrutinized and he wouldn't be able to get away with it but maybe i'm wrong on all accounts...
