This past week, I have received literally dozens of emails asking for donations. While I and the people in my community are collecting donations of cash, food, and clothing to be given to the proper emergency personnell for distribution, the emails keep coming. The phone calls keep coming.

There's a problem. The emails and phone calls aren't from the Red Cross. In fact, Googling any of these so-called charities, I find warnings.....or worse, nothing at all.

If you're going to donate anything for the Katrina relief efforts, PLEASE, do so through the Red Cross or your local trusted efforts. There's a special section of Hell reserved for people who fatten their wallets on the suffering of others.

Here is an excellent resource for real charities who are actively participating in Katrina relief....

Hurricane Katrina: Blog for Relief Weekend
Thursday, September 1 - Monday, September 5

A weekend of blogging focused on raising awareness of and funds for relief efforts to aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

I know what you mean Stucco.

The last few years has been a very bleak moment in US history. We'll be back, it's just going to take some time.

The "end times" come, and the "end times" go. As the saying goes...a prophecy that comes true is really nothing more than a good guess.
If it's not the book of Revelations, it's the Nostradomus quatrains...
Shit happens.
It's how we deal with nature that's the true measure of how far human-kind has come.
Seems we're still a bit lacking.
I like to think we'll get there.

No, I am NOT an End Times Girl. Nor am I "left behind" type. I'm one of those skeptic/believer types. I'm a lapsed-Catholic/Episopalian-wannabee/Buddhist-hopeful/Wiccan-tendancy type. In other words, I believe in science. I also want to believe in the basic decency of intelligent organisms.
