Katrina Pushes Bush Down Further

A new Survey USA tracking poll suggests a "can't win" dynamic is unfolding for President Bush as he struggles to deal with the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.

"The number of Americans who now approve of the President's response to Hurricane Katrina is down: 40% today compared to 42% before he announced the Gulf Opportunity Zone" in a speech last week. "The number of Americans who disapprove of the President's response to Katrina is up: 56% today compared to 52% before the speech."

Key point: "The more cash President Bush throws on the fire, as compensation for what some see as an inadequate initial response, the more it antagonizes his core supporters."

Don't tell Sam Odom -- he seems to think that the fact that Bush appears to be testing new lows means his rebound has begun.

1) Public will begin to see Bush nor anyone was personally responsible for "Katrina" common sense will prevail.

2) Things will get better in N.O. and positive stories will be on the news.

Yeah, but then the Iraq mess will be back on the front page. With the lack of news lately, one would think we're out of there now.

Wars tend to be 'messy' before they look good. USA troops will be coming out of Iraq in 12 months, dont forget KKKarl!! He wants troop withdrawals well on their way before Nov 2006.

Just so I'm clear...you post his flat numbers around 39-40% with the subject line that Bush's numbers are "starting to climb" (with no clue as to how margins of error work or any proof or evidence that they are climbing)

Then, when presented with the fact that his numbers haven't yet begun to climb, you respond that he's bottomed out and that they are bound to climb.

Now you respond by saying you'll post in 6-12 months.

I know old people get bored and lonely, but Sam, do you just post so you can see your name on the internet and feel like you still partake in discussions that keep you topical?
