I dont see what this team has to play for anymore. They have had a terrible season based on recent KSU standards. The loss to Colorado removed any hope of going back to the Big 12 Championship game to defend their title last year. They are 4-6 and have no hopes of a bowl bid. I dont see how these players get up and excited about playing this weekend.

Iowa State, on the other hand, has everything to play for. Their season was supposed to be lost before it even started this year. Not even sure they believed they had a chance. But some recent success and a ton of help from the rest of the pitiful Big 12 North, and they are all alone on top of the North standings, holding their own destiny to the title game.

KState has the better team, but 11 points seems like an awful lot in this game. Would like to hear some others opinions on this. Thanks.

No team in the Big 12 North deserves to be favored over anybody, including a team in their own division. They all suck!

Cubsmac, I agree with you 100%! I just loaded up on +11 and it looks like there is no more 11's. KSU is a disinterested double digit favorite. GL to us ALL! LT

The players hate Snyder, so they will not give their all to please the man. He's always treated his players and asst. coaches like crap, and it is starting to catch up with him now that they are losing.

I would stay away from this one, fellas.

Cats have nothing left to motivate them.....except for the most dangerous motivator of all, PRIDE. This is the type of game where a motivated ISU team should squeak out a close one on the road, but they could easily lose by 20+ in Manhattan (as Nebraska did).

Cats have not given up on the season (as was evidenced in huge comebacks in Columbia and Boulder), they just make costly mistakes at inopportune times.

Cats vent a season's worth of frustration with "nothing to lose" attitude in seniors' final home game. I wouldn't lay 11 with K-State, but ISU +11 is not as "easy" as it looks. GL

KState was playing for a lot more than pride against Missouri and Colorado. If they had taken care of business against the Buffs, and then beat ISU this weekend, they likely would be headed back to the Big 12 championship game for a rematch with OU. You are right, they had not given up on the season during those games, because they still had BCS bowl hopes. Now they dont have any bowl hopes at all, not even a shot at the Champ Sports bowl. Thats a huge letdown.

Love the play on the Cyclones. I'll take at 10.5 + free half pt and might even go ML for some.

From the KC Star today:

Wildcats seek motivation for finale

Bowl hopes gone, but game still has meaning for seniors

MANHATTAN, Kan. — As one of 22 seniors who will be in uniform for the final time Saturday, Kansas State defensive tackle Jermaine Berry only can hope his teammates are on the same page.

If they aren't, well, he has a message for them.

“It's not tough to get up, especially for the seniors,” Berry said Tuesday. “I don't care who you are. If you can't get up for this game, you shouldn't be playing football.”

Considering the Wildcats' bowl hopes are squashed, there will be those who doubt whether K-State has the heart to take on Iowa State at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at KSU Stadium. Despite it being on the outside looking in when it comes to bowl games and the Big 12 North Division race, K-State is a 10 1/2 -point favorite. Defensive coordinator Bobby Elliott likes the odds of the Wildcats showing up with a purpose.

“A team with great character will take their best shot. I'm betting on our guys being guys like that,” Elliott said. “If they aren't, it will be painfully apparent.”

Of course, head coach Bill Snyder expects nothing less than a supreme effort. He understands it might be difficult to get pumped for this one, but he believes the Wildcats can do it.

“From the motivational aspect, we're all in the same boat there,” Snyder said. “You've just got to reach down inside and find what lights a fire.”

SENIORS SIDELINED: Two seniors who won't be available to play: defensive tackle Andrew Bulman and defensive end Kevin Huntley. Both are injured.

WHO'LL BE QB? K-State lists its starting quarterback as either Allen Webb or Dylan Meier. Webb started at Colorado, but departed in the fourth quarter because of an injury.

Webb will be available. As for who starts, Snyder said: “I don't know yet. I haven't decided.”

Iowa St has a higher power ranking and they are getting points. What more do you need.

Iowa St playing on the road never is an easy task. They've had trouble the last couple years, only winning one game on the road. Hell, it runs at this university as the basketball team can't win on the road either. Not saying ISU doesn't stay close in this game, but with this team there is always a good chance for them to get run out of the stadium.

Again, I would stay away, fellas. ISU has a lot to "lose" in this game, the pressure is on them. K-State has been to 11 straight bowl games and aren't going this year....this IS their bowl game, coaches will go all out preparing for last game of year knowing THIS IS IT! Last game for KSU all-time leading rusher Darren Sproles.

I wouldn't lay 11 with K-State, but I can see the Clones getting pounded in a road game with post-season implications. Be careful!

Midwesterner,
What are you talking about? The players do not hate Snyder as a whole. Trust me I went to school their 93-97 and know the strength coordinator that leads them on the field. The only reason that you would see a player not like Snyder, is because he expects you to work your ass off during practice and leave everything you have on the field. If a player does not like him for that, how shall we expect to maintain our reputation in our decade of dominance. As far as I am concerned, if it weren't for Snyder's Workaholic expectations, we would be the doormat of the Big 12 every year. Just like we were in the 80's for the big eight.
First and Foremost, I have given up trying to figure out the cats this year. God love em, they are just inconsistent and inexperienced. This is the most frustrated I have ever been with the Cats. I can't imagine if I went to school there in the 80's. If I had to take a side ATS from a non bias perspective, I would take the Cyclones. We just haven't cut the mustard, we have QB decisions to make week in and week out, our offensive line has been lolly gagging, and our defense has been giving up a siginicant amount of points. I would give you statistics, but it makes me depressed, so I won't and you can find them yourself anyhow.

Now, that I have given you the realistic version, I will now give you the bias approach and the smarter approach to this game IMO. I think the cats do have something to play for. As somebody indicated above, they have Pride to play for. This pride goes a long ways in Wildcat land. Four things that makes Kansas State tough ATS for Saturday 1) Seniors last home game/game of the season 2) Despite the fact we are having a terrible season, I can guarantee you that the crowd will be their to support the team bigtime this weekend. The little apple is a tough place to play. 3) Webb has been playing pretty good recently, he has shown improvement 4) Don't forget about the little man, Darren Sproles, he can still find the creases and this weekend he will look to go out with a bang to his alma mater. Poor kid has just had a tough year but watch out this weekend.

In summary, I wouldn't take or give any points in this game. I would strongly consider playing the number. My play this weekend is Over 54. gl to everyone.
Go Cats,
Cat

Snyder

Snyder may work their asses off on the practice field, and a good player should not dislike him for that. On the whole, he treats his players poorly. I've heard this from scrubs, guys in the NFL, and some parents. Nobody cares when you're 8-3, but as soon as you're losing then the negativity will come out. In 93-97, Snyder was a GOD, but now he is getting too high on himself, and it will cost him in the long run.
In three years, KSU will be an average team like they are this year. NU will control the north, KU will still be improving, and KSU will fall until they bring in someone else.
Snyder should be respected for what he's done, but after a while his lack of personality and poor decisions will cost him.
