Anyone wondering how UGA lets this kid go? Can't help but think there is a big gap between Ryan Day and Kirby Smart from the X's and O's and player development at the QB position.

Georgia didn’t let him go. He wanted out so bad that he claimed he was a victim of racism. Nobody believes his story by the way, but after his claim the NCAA didn’t want the negative attention of challenging him.

the better question is......how did OSU make such a poor evaluation of Joe Burrow and let HIM get away?

In both situations the players did not win the starting job... dont get me wrong, I love Burrow and watch/root for him every game I can watch. The kid was great in HS and was actually more mobile back then. The facts with him are 1) he could not beat out Haskins 2) i dont think he thought Haskins would go to the NFL after 1 year so he left which you cant blame him 3) his first year was average at best but the skill set is there he just needed reps. As far as Fields I will not go in to the race stuff because you nor I were. He left because it was clear he was never going to play and Smart did not know how to use him or coach him imo.

I have had many debates about who is the best and I do not put Fields in that discussion but imo there is not a better QB in the country than Burrow. He can make every throw on the field, he can slide in the pocket to let things develop. I know this will bring out the Bama homers but imo Tua is not the best in my QB in the country. I think last week he threw one pass down field over 30 yards? Every pass is in the short range and either a bubble screen or a slant. That is fine given the talent around him and the offensive approach but yards after catch does not make him the best QB in the country.. The talent Alabama has at the skill positions around him is unmatched imo. . Their O line is nasty. IMO Bama is at the head of the class. The funny thing is you can take away the slant very easily.. by alignment and not letting the receiver get off the line with out a hit. Slants are timing and what does Tua do when they finally play a coach worth his salt and takes it away? When you get aggressive and take away the slant you also lock down the bubble screen.... that is where the CB better not lose his jock at line of scrimmage because those bama receivers will be running down field wide open and if tua has time then look out.

I really think these WR at Bama are underrated. The kid at OU is good but he has nothing on Jeudy, then toss in Smith, Ruggs, Waddle.... good luck to any defense trying to stop Alabama.

Good luck to you and the Tigers, I hope Burrow keeps tearing it up and btw instead of you asking how OSU let him go you should be happy he was not good enough to beat out Haskins or LSU would still be 3 yards and a cloud of dust ?

I am a firm believer many of these games/teams are established on the recruiting trail and no one has the quantity and quality as Alabama.

According to Coach Myer it was a very close call between Haskins and Burrow.

And I understand that Fromm was rated way higher than Fields when he was at Georgia, and he struggled when put in against strong opposition.

Fields does look good, but against weak opposition, a bit like 50 touchdown Haskins last year. A lot of QB's look good when the rest of the team has a huge talent advantage over their opponents.

The Heisman will be decided in the big games later in the year. We know Fromm, Tua and Lawrence are good under pressure, Fields looks like he will do OK as well.

The transfer portal is great, it lets the best talent play rather than have them warm the bench waiting for injury.

it makes you wonder how many backup QB's who never got the opportunity would have turned into stars if they had the chance.

The Heisman will be decided 1 single week.....that is WK#11......LSU @ BAMA.....whatever QB shines in this game and wins it for his team.....this WILL be your Heisman winner.

He couldn't beat out Fromm last year, got mad and left. He is a helluva a player, but didn't fit the offensive scheme UGA runs. Plus he gets to go to a conference that he can dominate weekly....until they play wisky or state penn.

UGA offense was an awful match with Fields. They run a true pro style that puts a lot of pressure on the QB with checks and presnap reads. This is a glaring weakness with Fields. OSU keeps it simple and doesn't ask him to set up the blocking scheme after making a pre snap read....and much like Haskins, Fields is gonna struggle mightily at the next level.

Now for OSU fans, they can care less about the NFL...so it is a great add for the Buckeyes. But Fields was very very average and looked clueless in the pro style sets. Still he played about 1.5 games of offensive snaps and could not get it done. And yes, Smart did not want to change his offensive strategy for him. Take that for what it is worth.

Good insight fellas ... I still think Burrow > Tua but Tua has so many studs around him. I watched Bama last week and I don’t see a better set of receivers any where and the O line has to be one of the best. I truly think they haven’t even shown their potential just walking through the softer part of their schedule. I am not a homer and do care about OSU doing well but I wouldn’t mind seeing Alabama give Clemson the business lol
