traffic...terrible almost unbearable...town itself is great place for young and old alike and great place to raise family or retire...some very nice homes and neighborhoods..i visit there about 1 time a week...

also grew up 15 miles from there and everything has changed except roads...a lot of that has to do with the lake,i guess when a lot of land is underwater you have to get creative building roads..

as someone mentioned right next door to davidson, about 1 mile...pretty and rich women everywhere...both young and cougars..

some facts about lake norman... 34 miles long and at places 8 miles wide...summertime it is hard to even navigate or fish due to so many boats on the water(last year we caught a break due to high gas prices)

INLAND SEA...
Lake Norman, created between 1959 and 1964 [1] as part of the construction of the Cowans Ford Dam by Duke Energy, is the largest manmade body of fresh water located entirely within North Carolina.[2] It is fed by the Catawba River. It was named after former Duke Power president Norman Cocke. Lake Norman is sometimes referred to as the "inland sea"; it offers 520 miles (840 km) of shoreline and a surface area of more than 50 square miles (130 km2). Full pond elevation at Lake Norman is 760 feet (230 m)...

maybe he can buy a car from rodfather at one of his dealerships,or shop for produce at one of his stores.and maybe he will take him out on his yacht also..

I was looking at buying land on Lake Norman a couple years ago. A former co-worker said that the NASCAR drivers have homes on the lake so I thought it would appreciate in value the most. Too bad they didn't name it Lake Cocke.

It turns out that Lake Wylie is more in my price range. It doesn't look like I'll be buying any time soon though until housing prices come down.

A guy where I work now has a home near Charlotte and his computer desktop is a picture of his home. Nice wooded area with a large deck and a large house. Nice areas to live around there I guess.

I'd Never Live Anywhere East Of The Miss.

BUT, if I had to I always thought I'd like NC, or Tenn.! Lots of Lakes, rivers etc., and wooded areas. Love the outdoors & fishing. A non western area I love is the Ozarks, like N. Mn, except they are also mountainous. What're price ranges in that area for 2500/3000 ft home? Best of luck to your family.

My friend who lives in NC said the weather isn't too bad. Hardly ever gets too cold or too warm. Sure there are exceptions throughout the year but it's not hot and humid like other parts of the South and it hardly ever snows.
