Wasn't the June Jones incident the straw that finally broke the camel's back?
I think that she actually hired him or made him an offer to be their new HC.
But alas she was fired because her stupidity could no longer be concealed.
And as things often turn out, the Devils did OK and wound up with Todd Graham instead of June Jones.
No doubt a coin flip to Lisa... even to this day.
Correct. Our President gave her specific orders to go and atleast interview Sumlin, then Mora, and one other coach. Because she's got ties to USC, and knows Leigh Steinberg, he apparently reached out to her and got her to consider/interview June Jones. Within hours this ditsy broad was offering our HC job to June Jones.
Several alums got wind of this, got with several boosters who reached out to the president and said, "whoa" that ain't happening and we're withholding $$$ for CapEx expansion projects as well as paying off Erickson and staff. At that point our President went to Steve Patterson who was running these CapEx projects regarding expansion, etc and said , "She's Out, Your're Running this, and clean this stuff up". He did, we were too late on Sumlin and Mora took the UCLA job. We lost out on several guys and ended up with Graham. Seems to be working out so far and glad of it.
But yes, we almost ended up getting saddled with June Jones and it would have set us back 10 years because instead of recruiting Texas like Graham is we'd be playing AZ kids.
