Big John Scott (6-8, 270) has been voted into the All-Star game by the fans. Scott has scored
a total of 10 points during his 274 game NHL career. To top it off, he will be one of the captains
if he chooses to participate.

Scott signed a one year, $550,000 contract with Arizona this year. He has played in 11 games
so far. He can't skate, he can't shoot and he can't pass. He can fight through but this year's
All-Star game is a 3 on 3 affair. That means quick skating...no fighting.

Crazy situation for the league.

And he was a healthy scratch today.
I'm of 2 minds with this:
1 - it's pretty pathetic that probably the worst player in the league is a captain for the all-star game, let alone playing, and the league should be embarrassed for setting up a system that allowed this sort of thing.
2 - who fucking cares? - the AS game is a side-show anyway, and hopefully the captains all get drunk again. Scott's going to look like a fool out there 3on3...
Maybe I'm a little bit of both.

Feddz, I had heard about the movement to get John Scott in the All-Star game a few weeks ago.
Fans having fun I guess. My guess is he will turn down the opportunity.

NHL teams have moved away from just keeping enforcers on the main roster. Several
have the bad dudes in waiting if needed. Brian McGratten (Anaheim-guaranteed $700,000) is playing
for San Diego. In my opinion, he's the best enforcer out there and if needed can be called up by
Anaheim.

Reno, I have always thought All-Star selections should be made by the players. Anytime
you through fans in the mix...anything can happen. I understand all leagues wanting fan
involvement/interest...but some strange selections have been made.

Scott want take this selection....he's a goon but really a pretty nice guy trying to make a
living.

Yeah I think he already said a week or two ago that he was going to accept the nomination if he was voted in.
I for one am happy to see enforcers go the way of the dodo. Skill always >>> Braun for me

he's playing

''But I talked to some people, I talked to a lot of former players and everyone said have fun with it, just go with it and it'll be a good experience''.

''At first it was one of those things that I thought was a joke, but now it happened so I've kind of got to go with it, have some fun with it and try to do the best I can,'' Scott said.
