That is sad, for both - here's what they died of ...

Cash:

"Johnny died due to complications from diabetes, which resulted in respiratory failure," said Cash's manager, Lou Robin, in a press release issued by Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

Ritter:

Ritter fell ill Thursday on the set of his ABC sitcom "8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter," said Susan Wilcox, his assistant of 22 years.

The cause of death was a dissection of the aorta, the result of an unrecognized flaw in his heart, said his publicist, Lisa Kasteler.

Ritter was the youngest son of Western film star and country musician Tex Ritter.

Man that is horrible. My Pop loved Johnny Cash, he'd have hated to hear this. He'd sing right along with the radio when his songs came on.

Just saw the ad for Ritter's show being advertised a day or two ago. Sad stuff all around.

RIP.

It was good to see Cash get the recognition this year that he finally deserved.

Ritter dying so young makes you think about how short life can be. I used to think 50 was old... not anymore.

TRIVIA- CASH was the first musician to become a member of both the ROCK N ROLL HOF and the COUNTRY HOF.

A TRUE AMERICAN LEGEND FOR SURE!

And out of nowhere, I just saw John Ritter two weeks ago...

RIP Jack Tripper....

Johnny Cash, I can understand but not a guy who appeared to still be in fine health.

I hear that Train a Comin'

I was raised on Rock-n-roll but Johnny Cash brought his kind of country music into our house. He was the first to cross that line. And thank God he did.

He sang the Prison Blues...he sang about what it was like growing up TOUGH and having to survive in the world as a Boy Named Sue.

My Voice got deeper because of you.

And for you old friend... I will always walk the Line

...I hear that train a comin'.........

Now your finally FREE.

Don't know that Johnny Cash and John Ritter should be in the same sentence and don't get me wrong I have nothing against John Ritter but Mr. Cash was a true American Icon! A Rebel before rebel was "cool"! His lyrics will stand the test of time, singers will be singing his songs as long as man walks this earth and to a songwriter that is the greatest compliment.

My Dad would listen to Johnny Cash for hours on friday nights when I was a little boy. And I would say dad " he can't sing at all", he said you will understand it when you get older, I get it now dad, I do get it, now! His songs made you want to be his friend, a man you wanted to know, RIP Johnny, wherever you go you will have many friends!

Sad to hear this, but they are both now better off than any of us I believe.

Sad news indeed
Johnny was an absolute legend and well said IB. It took me many years to understand why my father loved the mans music so much until I actually bought one of his records and listened. Made me relize two things, how cool Johnny was, and what great musical taste my father had.

Man, i wake up and first thing i see this morning is my pal Jack Tripper dying. This is so sad. This guy was some talent. He was so talented. Who didn't grow up watching Three's Company? I think everyone loved that show. NO WAY you can not like that show. He was 3's company. I remember growing up watching Jack and remembering how big he was in the early 80's where everybody, boy and girl in my high school loved this guy. The guys idolize his character and sense of humor and looks, and every girl wanted to date him. It's too bad because he really was starting to look good, lost some weight, and had a successful show starting its 2nd season next week. Boy, life can suck so much sometimes.

I still see the guy as Jack Tripper, the youthful nutball that always had a line to laugh at...I had forgotten how funny this show was til my daughter started watching it again nightly on TV Land/Nick@Nite...

One thing I noticed about John Ritter he had a much different personality in real life, he was a very serious guy and he almost had this somber way about him....It always struck me how different he seemed in real life in the past 10 years...I guess his stage character was just that much different from the real man....I saw him on Conan like 3 weeks ago with Dana Carvey and he was joking and having a good time..What a damn shame!
