why not give a guy like Girardi a shot?

half the guys that keep resurfacing have no business managing again in MLB, yet somehow keep getting hired .

Why is it that half of MLB managers are ex-catchers, and there are almost no ex-pitchers who are managers? Bud Black was mentioned as a managerial candidate on the tube recently, which made me wonder whether there are ANY ex-pitchers who have made successful managers. Anyone know of any?

Roger Craig comes to mind, depending on your definition of successful.
