Jeb Bush Pays Reporter $100,000

At the same time one of Florida's most visible television reporters brought the news to viewers around the state, he earned hundreds of thousands of dollars on the side from the government agencies he covered.

Mike Vasilinda, a 30-year veteran of the Tallahassee press corps, does public relations work and provides film editing services to more than a dozen state agencies. His Tallahassee company, Mike Vasilinda Productions Inc., has earned more than $100,000 over the past four years through contracts with Gov. Jeb Bush's office, the Secretary of State, the Department of Education and other government entities that are routinely part of Vasilinda's stories.

Meanwhile, the freelance reporter's stories continued to air on CNN and most Florida NBC stations, including WFLA-Channel 8 in Tampa.

On Friday, Vasilinda told the Herald-Tribune that his business dealings with state government don't influence his reporting.

"I have processes in place to make sure the products we put out for our news clients are free from bias from any source," Vasilinda said. "We absolutely keep arm's length between the two divisions of our company."

CNN, which aired a Vasilinda story on Terri Schiavo on Thursday, did not return phone calls seeking comment. Link

It's gotten to the point where I am not surprised by anything these guys do.

Armstrong Williams said there were many others. I am beginning to think this is really just the tip of the iceberg.

Raise your hands if you believe this statement: These payments don't influence his reporting. His "safeguards" are adequate. Yeah, monkey's are flying out of my butt too.

This guys reports were on CNN during the Schiavoathon. Did anybody see this guys stories? I didn't, but I have a sneaking suspicion they went easy on old Jeb. I think it is only fair to ask for Fox news people to disclose their financials at this point.

"The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power... American fascism will not be really dangerous until there is a purposeful coalition among the cartelists, the deliberate poisoners of public information, and those who stand for the K.K.K. type of demagoguery."

FSU center spent public money to tout feds' policies
By Kimberly Miller
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

(EXCERPTS) Wednesday, February 02, 2005

"A Florida State University center has used more than a half-million in education tax dollars to put a positive spin on President Bush's key school policies, including hiring a public relations firm to teach charter schools to be more media-savvy.

"Despite conflicting studies on the success of charter schools and other alternative education programs, the School Choice Center at FSU touts them as ways to 'increase student achievement, increase parental involvement, promote school improvement through constructive competition, and accomplish racial and ethnic diversity.'

"Since 2003, taxpayers have given the center $627,567 as part of a 5-year, $1.2 million federal grant made available through the No Child Left Behind Act, which promotes school choice as a fix for failing public schools. "The center's mission is to make parents aware of all choice programs, including traditional magnet schools, expand the number of choice schools in the state, and help them "work the media" -- as was written in one of the PR firm's pamphlets."

Or how bout Bush #41 "bragging" about Junior getting re-elected ... "confirms America believes in the Bush family Moral value system" ... really? Hello, Harken Energy, Silverado S&L Scandal, Kennedy Assassination, etc ....

The Bushes are without a doubt the biggest bunch of lowlife scumbags this country has ever seen ...

Jeb's just an intern, so he hasn't reached complete lowlife status yet.......

Judging from the hole we're leaving the grandkids in......maybe the grandkids will realize the country cannot afford another Bush in office and vote along the lines of the reality they are stuck in.

Mathprof:

Oh, yes, I sure doooo ... I headed up the Silverado S&L Scandal back in the 80's ... yes, that was me !!!

And I also made over 800k on Insider Trading when I was on the Board @ Harken Energy ....

I was also involved in the Iran / Contra scandal but told everyone that "I was out of the loop" ...

And Redneckman brings out dirty laundry on the Dems to try to defend the Repubs......

When are you gonna realize that corruption pays no attention to party lines?

They're all out to make a quick buck, between times of putting up the facade of humanitarianism.
