Chicago's Jake Peavy: "We like our chances."
"Let's see how they finish."
Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera seems pretty optimistic about his team's chances of catching the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central.
And with the teams facing off 10 times in the season's final two months, Cabrera and the Tigers seem to have plenty of time to make up the 3 1/2-game deficit.
"No, I’m not surprised," Cabrera said of the White Sox at the All-Star Game this week in Kansas City. "They have great pitching, and they’re doing good right now. ... Let's see how they finish."

Jake Peavy expects a close battle the rest of the way.
"This is where it gets serious," Peavy said. "This is where the grind starts. People on the outside can say what they want.
We like our chances. I mean, why not? We’re in first place, and we’re going to grind it out, I can tell you that. With the ballclub we have, the leadership, the coaching staff, we’re going to grind this out."
Detroit finished the 2011 season a tear, winning 38 of its final 54 games. But it's the White Sox who are the division's best team right now.
Chicago went 5-1 in its final six games before the All-Star break, which included a sweep of the two-time defending AL champion Texas Rangers.
"They’re starting to play like Detroit did at the end of last year," Indians closer Chris Perez said of the Sox. "I hope it doesn’t happen, but that’s what they look like."
