Because it's not like he has a political future to worry about. He's 72 years old. It's now or never. What does he give a shit. I don't think he even cares if he drags the Republican Party down because like he says he doesn't much care for party. McCain cares only about getting McCain elected president. He has to try something, so he'll try anything.
Oh yea...I forgot. McCain's running still running for president. Wouldn'tve known since been in the qutting business lately. You know, bailing on battle states, and losing his own Bush states, posponing campaigns and what not, sinking like an anvile in polls.
