And I quote" I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the victory tonight" OK i paraphrased a bit but Tebow and Kurt Warner(God must hate the Falcons too} must realize, although I doubt it that the field, arena, etc is no place for religion, politics or whatever.Play the game and please shut the fuck up.

By the by,thank your teamates, thank your family, thank the coaching staff and if u must use religion thank the big man everyone escaped the game without serious injury because I highly doubt God layed the 4 points on Florida.

Ay Timmy T I guess the good Lord gave U exemplary strength in the national championship game and let everyone else wallow in a quagmire of mediocraty.

God gave all of the players the strength and talent to be there. To perform to their abilities. Tim didnt say he was given extraordinary abilities and that he's better than others.

Tim simply chooses to praise Him out loud for those gifts he has been given. I see nothing wrong with it as long as its not some overt proselytizing. Other people do the same thing. Others choose to praise him quietly. And some choose not to do it at all. No one is in the wrong. Everyone has different beliefs.

and trust me, i'm no TT fan. But if he chooses to do it, so be it.

I know I am from Oklahoma but my view of St. Tebow is not a sour grapes thing at all. I just think that it is amusing that all the cameras were around when Tebow goes on a "mission." He craves attention and he appeals to religiously oriented people. Throw in the praise from TV announcers etc., and I think it just gets worse. If you play from hate, which I think he uses as a motivator (lots of athletes do - religious and otherwise) then you can get eatin up with it. Why doesn't anyone say he is obsessed with winning (which he is). His grand standing after the Mississippi game was laughable. Grandstanding, front runner all the attributes? of a Falwell.
All in the name of religion. I hope God does not favor Floridians over Okies. IT IS JUST A GAME FOR GOD'S SAKE.
I feel sorry for guys like Harvin (the real MVP) who are not front runners or need the attention. Athleticism is God given and can be honed and the way one accepts the laurels and or pitfalls is what defines the man. Tim Tebow will someday be just another player in the NFL (if he makes it). Will we never hear him praise God for that lesser role on national TV.
He is all about attention and he is in the lime light now. I will reserve my opinion of him somewhere down the road and under different circumstances.

Dude, you act like this is the first time you've heard Tebow talk about God. Wait, Tebow is a fool I'm sure he'd rather be you.

Maybe it's b/c he's the best player in the country. He took this game over with his legs and laser throws in the 4th. And I assure you Tebow will make it in the NFL, any amount you want.

What the hell in God's green earth is the big deal? Jesus, Mary and Joseph, you people take this God-forsaken topic too goddamned serious. God, if Tebow wants to thank the saviour then give him his almighty right to do so (in the name of all things holy, of course).

I think he thanked his teammates, coaches and family right out of the chute and only thanked Jesus later. I don't think there is anything wrong with expressing gratitude to those you feel are responsible. Just because you may not believe it does not mean that others cannot. I don't associate his actions with pride, just the opposite.

Epic fail.

You completely miss Tebow's message. Nowhere has he ever said that God is essentially "more on his side" than his opponents.

As we all know, God has much more important things to do than decide the outcomes of college football games. Many believe, however, that they owe Him thanks for giving us the "power" or "strength" to do what we do... whether it's performing athletically, or advancing technology, science, and medicine.

Very well put. Unfortunately, people with pathetic lives that failed to accomplish what they want in life want to take it out on God. Unfortunately, that's a good amount of people.

Sorry Addict 101, but you are being quite the hypocrite here. You say its terrible to demean someone for their belief system but you say if someone doesn't believe in god its that they have pathetic lives and haven't accomplished anything?

You are pathetic.

Huh? I'm talking about people that ignorantly take stabs at religion because the whole idea of God is dumb. This guy doesn't believe in God for the wrong reasons, the guy just hates religion because Tebow is vocal about what he believes in. "Shut the fuck up and just play the game." or "I doubt God layed the 4 with Florida." That's just sarcastic bigotry and nothing else, and I don't respect people that talk that kind of shit just because they despise religion.

I see, I have no problem with what you said here. The post that I quoted initially could have been taken many different ways, and I saw it in a way you didn't want it to be interpreted. A little more clarification on the initial post would have helped but my bad as well.

Yeah you're right, I didn't make it clear before why I had a problem with the dude. It's all good, just sucks CFB is over and we have to wait a few months just for spring ball. Onto CBB for awhile.

I would bet you that he will be on the ESPN payroll within 5 years resting on his laurels. Look who they have now. Pros do not tolerate front runners and in the NFL you cannot lead from the bench.

I might get stabbed like Hell's Kitchen for this, but count me in as one of those that are tired of hearing the cristian athletes heap rewards on some spiritual entity that might only exist as a figure in their faith. Outside of their faith they don't even know what god is trump, reality is if they were born and raised in another country they'd be thanking allah or budda or some other deity.

Much like George Carlin's bit about never hearing the second place team quip that "Jesus made me fumble".........

The champion boxer can thank God for being able to completely beat the shit out of someone else, forget about the 1000's of hours spent in the gym or lifting weights and developing boxing skills.

Must have been God riding on Michael Jordan's shoulders all those years, or could it have been his countless hours dribbling the ball and taking jump shots, shooting free throws, and ending up on a talented team where Phil Jackson was the coach, Dennis Rodman snarfed up all the rebounds and fed them to Jordan and Pippen and as a team they just dominated pro basketball.

I can give you many more examples, but the common road all of this leads to, is that if you fell short, someone says you just didn't work hard enough.....somehow god wins every event but the second place finishers are always faced with and told the reality of life that they didn't try hard enough, prepare enough, or made too many mistakes to win. So if that's the case, did god play any role in the event considering the people who trained hard won and the people who slacked off lost?

Sounds like a good argument for coaches who get fired.......the Detroit Lions can just say god wasn't on their side.

Addict 101 how ironic that is your handle.
Despise religion.Nope.
Been a devout catholic since i was a child.
Just as your handle insinuates that what religion is all about.
To help with addictions and charity all of which TT does.
My points is keep it off the field.

May the grace of God be with you,the forum,TimmyT and the Oklahoma Sooners(even though God loves the Gators more
