Balto @the Colts...Still sounds very strange to me, some 20 years later...

I just wish those Colts played outdoors, the game wasn't meant to be played on a carpet with a roof.......

Also,you would be surprised how many older men in Maryland still love the Colts....the Colts were like religion in Baltimore in the 50's and 60's, no NFL team should take the city's name with it, if it decides to move....

I posted about this just two days ago in another thread...Someone even posted a picture of it....The guy landed the plane just minutes after the Steelers/Colts playoff game, I believe he was flying one of those banners over top the stadium....

From another thread Monday;

Not that this fan did it on purpose but one of the most memorial things that ever happened in the stands of Memorial Stadium, a guy landed his plane in the upper deck after a Colts Steelers playoff game in 1976;

On December 19, 1976, approximately five minutes after the finish of the AFC semi-final game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Colts, a single engine plane crashed into the upper deck almost directly behind home plate. Miraculously, no spectators were injured and the pilot suffered minor injuries.

I couldn't find a photo...amazing no one was hurt...perhaps because the Steelers won the game rather easily the place cleared out fast, or this would have been a disaster never forgotten.

I was a Baltimore Colts fan: Unitas, Berry, Ameche, Donovan, Moore, Hendricks, Mackey, Morrall, Bert Jones.........

& the Baltimore Bullets:: Elvin Hayes, Phil Chenier, Wes Unseld, Earl Monroe, Mike Riordan, Mitch Kupchak,,,, (& don't get me started on those Oriole glory years)

and they took them both away.......

This Ravens team is complete mystery to me...I thought they would gel down the stretch but that Cincy game, where Palmer torched the secondary cannot be overlooked, in that case (opponent down big) usually the defense just swallows up the opposition...So I can't expect the defense to shut down Peyton, if Lewis can stay in the game and the Ravens can control the clock it could be interesting...

The defense gets worn down because the Ravens can't control the clock ;like they have in the past...They must beat either Indy or Pitt, just to get in...

I would guess Manning will get atleast one or two...he's having a dream season

Journeyman you are absolutely correct, major league teams should not be able to retain the team name when they move. Why would a team located in UTAH be wanting to be known as the JAZZ? New Orleans sure, UTAH? Grew up a Giants fan but favorite Colt was always Tom "The Garbage Man" Matte. You must recall the time he played QB with the plays taped to his wrist vs the Rams if I'm not mistaking. Also, football without a doubt an outdoor game and perhaps that's reflected in only one indoor team having won the SB.

Can't we ALL just get along?!!

Jeff Saturdays' availability is key to the timing of Indy's Offense FWIW.
