Is Your Book Next to Be Attacked?

Last week it was Pinnacle and BetWWTS on the receiving end of blackmail-inspired DoS attacks, presumably perpetrated by the same Russian hacker group. Who’s gonna be next?

This situation illustrates the importance of having multiple outs … when (not if) one of your shops goes down, you’ll be able to work around it. In addition, different bonus offers, a variety of wagering options, differences in numbers, etc. provide an additional benefit to having multiple sports betting accounts.

Don’t wait for your favorite book to get hit … register with at least 2 or more other shops NOW and, either fund those accounts directly or have a balance on standby in NETeller.

Unfortunately, attacks such as those we saw last week may happen more frequently as the perpetrators learn that their blackmail demands will most likely be met. We've already seen evidence that plans are in place for more such blackmail.

Cheers,

Beverely Hills Bookie EV

Of course, some may already have gotten hit and just been quiet about it.

Jay, I wouldn't call them hackers. Anyone can run a dos attack but it's true. They are causing some serious problems.

I'm surprised we haven't heard from any other shops this evening. Same guys nailing Hollywood tonight hit Pinnacle, WWTS, and others? last week ... makes you think that they're hitting more than just Hollywood right now.

Paying them is stupid, because it's not like they are blackmailing someone with the "negatives" that get turned over and destroyed. Once a book pays, they will just get attacked again in a few months during Thanksgiving or play-offs. Paying them is no guarantee that they won't attack again. It's not like they hand you a magic amulet that protects you against future attack.

Hollywood could offer a $30,000 reward for the balls of the hacker ($15,000 per nut). Without his balls, the hacker would probably lose enthusiam.

i hope i am wrong, i sure hope they didnt pay....although that would be just a drop in the bucket to them, it would set a bad precedent.....

bucsfan-

I thought some poster claimed that Pinnacle paid. However, I don't believe that Pinnacle confirmed that rumor.
