You say "he's already clinched it, what a stupid bet" but that doesn't take into account the following: he's a prostate cancer survivor, is 60 years old, and may have other unknown health problems (I suspect he has agromeglia, the same disease that Lincoln is said to have had). So you can get maybe 30-1 or so (at Tradesports) that "health issues" will force Kerry out of the race before the Democratic convention.

Interesting thought. I really have no opinion on the wager, but nothing would surprise me.

Good luck

Wouldn't surprise me to see Bush and/or the other Neo-con murderers take him out.

You saw what they did to Wellstone.

"polls show that Wellstone's popularity surged after he voted to oppose the Senate resolution authorizing George Bush to wage war in Iraq. He was pulling ahead of Coleman and moving toward a victory that would both be an embarrassment to the Bush administration and to Democratic Quislings such as Hillary Clinton who voted to support "the president."

Then he died."

For him not to be able to accept the nomination he would need an untreatable illness to surface before the summer or about 5 months away. And even if he had such an illness most people in that position would hush it up and keep going ala "West Wing". I would put the odds at about 500:1.

Or sinking poll numbers, a la Senator Torricelli.

Lander, I imagine Rove and company will insist on surrounding Kerry with as much secret service personal as the slopes will allow. No way do they want anyone else running against Bush.

A Skulls and Bones man taking out a fellow club member? Nah, doubt it.

I can think of a few ...

Dean
Kuchinich
Sharpton
Gephardt
Braun
Lieberman

Personally, I think Edwards or Clark would have been much better nominees.
