I have been known to play horses & that habit tends to cause me to lose chips. Any habits you tend to blame on failures? Playing to many favs, parlays, trends, etc...

Thanks

betting on tennessee.

i was this close to driving to tennessee to strangle that fat coach for not kicking a fg up 24-0 in the fourth qtr. who goes for it 4th and 3 from the 15 yard line up by 24 points. what a complete asshole.

of course, the only thing that can beat me happens...pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown. blows up tennessee -19.

i think i have lost more on that school than any other. i just have to never bet tennessee games.

Playing big chalk..being with the public on the NFL(except Super Bowls)..playing against the Lakers, ND or Yankees when they're dogs..laying points with Tenn or LSU as big home favs off big games the week prior..laying points vs. UCLA in the 1st three rounds of the NCAA tourney..betting on world series or NBA finals teams in gms 3 or 4 when ahead 2-0 or 3-0..betting at tables or on sports while drinking..playing horses without knowing the trainer, jockey, or horse on a first name basis(IE "who does, so just say no!")..betting on wild card teams in bases or foots to make money down the stretch yearly(they all lose their way into the playoffs or don't cover)..betting on wild card game winners in the 2nd round(except some div rival cases), and/or when they had to win their way into the playoffs the final month(they're outta gas)..playing chalk in bowl games( sans New Years Day)..following syndicate sendouts/major line moves on Saturday mornings..playing west coast games for action just because you won all of your East of the Mississippi games by 4 PM EST..these are all things I do not do often, but will burn money more than not!

Bob Martin, Sonny R, and Gene Maday didn't fear action across the board, they sweated out the guy that played one big bomb per day!

No. If the numbers don't make sense - then I simply don't play it.

Weekly 3-Team NFL teasers. Generally I bet only str8 plays and stay away from parlays and teasers but almost every week during the NFL season I see a 3 team teaser that looks awesome, of course I generally win two of three and go home with a losing ticket.

betting big on the Hulk and Charlie's Angels was a disaster. If you love the line, don't bet a lot more than you would normally bet, would be my advice.
Also, in my experince, if the line doesn't make sense in sports, take the side you like. Works for me in the NFL anyways. I got killed taking the sides I liked in the box office over/unders with lines I thought were way off, however.

Bob Martin and to some extent Sonny R. are legends. Mayday, who was hard to like, was one hell of a bookmaker. The man did'nt mind booking a bet. Did you spend much time in Little Ceasars?
Only curious, not important that you answer.

thanks, wil.

Going bigger than planned on the Sunday night game ... a bad decision more times than not, regardless the outcome of my day games.

I've met all three at the counter or in LV food establishments via others, but didn't know any of them, Maday was a man of few words, but sharp, he had MNF games & west coast teams down pat. Bob Martin was a real gentleman and was gracious when I met him

I used to see Bob Martin and his fellow eastern seaboard transplants aka "knights of the round table" eating at Celebrity Deli daily.

I was in Lil C's maybe 5 times in my life, a dump, except for Friday night number buying specials.

I prefer the Dust, IP, and Barbary sportsbooks over the mega-resorts.

GL this season Wilheim!

i used to have 2 - but now i don't do these thngs - so no problem

1.) Vincente Padilla: this guy has cost me more money over the years than any pitcher in mlb history. i bet ON him - he gets shelled - giving up 10 runs in 3 innings. i bet AGAINST him he throws a 3-hit CG shutout. it has been almost 2 years now - but i will NEVER bet another game he pitches EVER AGAIN! EVER!

2.) The "15-minute rule": for me - this is very simple. i don't make a play on a game less than 15 minutes before it starts. the reason i do this is because i don't want my pick to be impulsive. if the game starts @ Noon, once it hits 11:45A i am no longer betting that game - period!
