Damn, that's a nasty one Creighton.

WNO-Autopreview is a problem with Outlook & Express , especially if you allow html emails. You can easily get a trojan without a firewall and a fully patched (WinUpdate) machine.

Block all zip files attachment and attachments with "exe" extension. Never open these unless you scan them first for viruses.

Hopefully, people you know won't send you a virus. But always be careful. Make sure use always use an antivirus program, ie norton, mcafee, trendmicro.

good rule like you said, if you don't know the sender, don't open it.

Zonelabs has a very good email protection option, scans for exe and other malicious stuff and stops it from harming your computer...

The antivirus program is a definite. A lot of this crap out there now will send itself(the virus) to everyone in an Outlook\Out. Exp. address book-so they very well may (look like) they are coming from someone you know.

Another wonderful feature of a Micro$oft product that they still haven't been able to fix:finger: .

Firewall, WindowsUpdate & a real time virus scanner. Just do it.

You are DEADLY wrong !!!!! most email viruses are built so that once in someones computer they email themselves to EVERYONE IN THAT PERSONS ADDRESS BOOK....therefore you are MORE likely to get a virus from someone you know than a total stranger....

one thing you can do is download the free zone alarm firewall this thing ( besides being a good firewall) also captures any foreign attachments in emails and quarantines them before they ever have a chance to load...

Viruses come in all different shapes and form.

I'm surprised at how many people don't have an Antivirus or Firewall. Not bringing anybody down, but everybody should look into it. Personally I use NOD32 and ISS BlackIce.
