As a white male i find it harder and harder to try and be objective anymore about always being demonized for being a man and white. This isn't just me. I even have liberal friends that are scratching their heads. Now most of these are gamblers and business owners so they arent your typical libs but people are pissed. Youre pushing a very large productive part of the society into a corner. m not into identity politics but if i was i would say YOURE WELCOME WORLD.

Sincerely,

The White Guy.

It's difficult for me to understand how someone who considers himself a libertarian could support Trump.

Because Republican policies / platforms are more closely aligned to libertarians than the Democrats are.

Hence libertarians tend to canvas with Republicans much like socialists canvas with democrats. At least we agree on some issues, like a smaller federal government

I think just about every candidate the Libertarians ever ran for President was a Republican

Is Trump an advocate of smaller federal government? I wouldn't feel confident that he is.

I disagree. He's talking about slashing the DC beaucracy, returning education control to the states, budget cuts and repealing Obamacare. All of that reduces the size of the federal government

Donald Trump: Obamacare’s going to be repealed and replaced. Obamacare is a disaster if you look at what’s going on with premiums where they’re up 40, 50, 55 percent.

Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?

Donald Trump: There’s many different ways, by the way. Everybody’s got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, ‘No, no, the lower 25 percent that can’t afford private. But–‘

Scott Pelley: Universal health care.

Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.

Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?

Donald Trump: They’re going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably–

Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?

Donald Trump: –the government’s gonna pay for it. But we’re going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most it’s going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind we're going to have more choices, more freedoms, fewer regulations and no mandates or penalties. Free enterprise will be reintroduced to the process, including simple things like crossing state lines. I think your strictly interpreting a few words meant for a smaller demographic. I'm talking big picture

Dear Scott Pelley.

The poor have always been taken care of, it's called Medicaid and
surprisingly it still exists. You would have thought the ACA would
have eliminated Medicaid because everyone was to covered with government
subsidies if you couldn't afford health care.

The word poor is not mentioned one time in that discussion.

Universal healthcare isn't big picture? It's a few words meant for a smaller demographic? Interesting.

Libertarians are nothing more than conservatives in the making who don't yet realize modern liberals will NEVER leave them alone.

who has to be taken care of? not me, not the vast majority of Americans, we just don't to be fucked

so when he says "everybody is going to be taken care of", I take that to mean low income and pre existing conditions. Especially when you consider everything else he says about the topic, which is the stuff I said in my prior post

we'll know soon enough who's interpreting this stuff correctly

and there were already programs in place to cover most Americans anyhow, I don't know of a state that didn't already have a plan for low income people before Obamacare.

What do you define as low income? Income below the poverty line? Someone making 150% of federal poverty line? That's an important distinction to make.

Ultimately, you are correct, we will have to wait to see who is correct about Trump. I give you credit for attempting to having reasonable discussions regarding Trump. You might be the only Trump supporter willing to do so.
