Is Major attacking Olympic?

Search
OK I admit I was casually looking at MW (don't throw me out guys!) and I see 2 posts by the Major:

One asking for Spiro to call him...

and one that reads like this:

Why is it that some books run by great men...

Hire the lowest and scummiest marketing people to represent them?

This is becoming the norm.

I have now run into this with 3 books that I know the owners of personally and I respect a great deal.

After dealing with their "staff" I feel as if I just got out of a sewer.

I sure hope this is not a trend.

Just what we want of the people who hold our money..... free of charge.

I am ONLY speculating but why would he put up random posts like this. Is there something going on at Olympic we need to worry about? I hope not!

Just an FYI...I just don't understand the vagueness of the post.

LOL Strut!

I love Olympic....I just get nervous when people talk like this about them since it's my fav book to play at. I figure as much as we've bashed him (and as much as he attacks this site sometimes) he may still know something that would have an effect on all of us (MW and Rx posters).

This is better directed AT his site and at him directly (of course..duh Sportsbet) but I wanted to see if you guys knew anything (I know you'd tell us anyways).

Real marketing genius keeping the Olympic Sports name, lol. If i'm a competing sportsbook I'm sending letters to the IOC twice a week asking about it. I actually emailed Spiro 3 years ago and recommended a trademark/copyright laywer here in Toronto. He called but never really followed it up. I guess they're not going after him. Maybe because they stopped running half page ads in the Toronto Sun with the Olympic logo, lol.
Frankly, I think he's getting some piss poor advice. He's got the best sportsbook software/user friendly website and best variety of lines/props, but people who can't speak English answering the phones in a country that doesn't even issue gaming licenses. Time for some of these books to start thinking about the long term direction of the industry.

It amazes me. Olympic almost does not need advertising...his rep and word of mouth get him new accounts...I will say everytime I try a new book and they are decent, I always go back to oly...simply the most choices and betting opp. on the net IMO...yes he has 20cent lines only down fault IMO. software is top notch and he pays QUICK..I never call much but have talked to the CS staff there and the accent is hard to understand...but overall A book imo, they will always be my MAIN out

You might pay extra for the lines on games and The Greek doesn't hand out big bonuses, but that's the price you pay for playing at the best book.
Besides, the futures odds are the usually among the best you'll see anywhere. It truly makes me sick seeing some of the Super Bowl/Stanley Cup/golf tournament/auto racing futures at most books. Now that's gouging.

the props are completely mindless and useless, Oly is too cowardly to put up point spread props, they put up gay things like who will score first, who will kick the 1st fg. I have no desire to play there ever again.

Rail they price gouge so much and a lot of people have droppd them out of their top 5.

Their horseracing book is a disgrace and takes them like 45 minutes to grade wagers and of course the worst customer service in the world.

This book is not what it use to be.

Major and I don't normally agree, but this time I truly understand where he is coming from and I do agree wholeheartedly...

First off, let me start by pointing out that Olympic is NOT a sponsor here, so some of you may think I am taking this position because of "sour grapes."

I can assure you that if you visit our Home Page, you will see we have numerous sports books advertising here..

Therefore, just like Olympic can function just fine without us, we can function well without them. Neither business NEEDS the other...

With that said, I believe Olympic to be spiraling downward.

Is your money safe over there?

ABSOLUTELY.

However, I have received and read on this forum MANY COMPLAIINTS from different gamblers who have received POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE from them, and not once has OLYMPIC addressed this issue ANYWHERE.

Their employees who handle this area are not only unable to speak clear ENGLISH, but they can be VERY RUDE!

In this modern day of offshore sports betting, CUSTOMER SERVICE is a priority that these operators better not minimize or they will lose customers...

Secondly, a friend of mine tried to wire a very large amount of money to OLYMPIC and it took over 2 months for his account to be credited despite over 20 phone calls to them!

While I can't blame OLYMPIC for their bank messing up, I can blame them for the way they let this gambler handle everything himself; including talking to THEIR BANK.

The gambler was amazed at how lackadaisical both Spiros and their staff were when he called Olympic on several occasions. He actually described it as "comical."

Lastly, a very good customer of OLYMPIC's who had sent at least a dozen good gamblers to them over the years accidentally made a bet on the opposite side of a game he intended to.

He called Olympic immediately thereafter, got through to Spiros, but Spiros made him bet the game again and forfeit JUICE on the mistaken wager.

Lastly, their marketing department is a disgrace to our industry.

Several gambling sites have told me that they start off wih good intentions but they fail to follow through.

Communication is key when representing your sports book to other established businesses and the lack thereof that has been exhibited by OLYMPIC SPORTS BOOKS has made other companies leary of doing anything with them in the future...

Ken, with all due respect. I am not sure what you and I agree on. I never said a word about Olympic.I needed to talk to Spiros about an idea. Two seperate posts that have nothing to do with each other.

Ahhhhhh the beauty of agenda in misinformation (sportbet).

IMO Olympic is one of the best books in the business for wise action and square action (not including baseball). I cannot think of a book that I would recommend more as a complete sportsbook.

Dante,

I will say this.

WALLY is a tremendous ASSET over there and I have ALWAYS received professional and very good treatment from him whenever we have corresponded...

Now if they only had more employees like WALLY, who is the exception and not the rule over there...

Major,

I was simply responding to Sportsbet's initial post where he supposedly quoted you...

I see now where you really stand, so we diagree...

That's ok...

there are some very good people there

Petrona and Trudy in accounting top shelf
Opal (now with betjamaica)
Bobby
Gord
Wally
Janine

IMO Olympic is one of the best books at TAKING BETS and PAYING PERIOD

like any other business they need improvement in many areas such as the afformentioned marketing and c-service

the bet offerings and quickness to put up a line imo offsets the cservice. NOBODY puts up NFL quarters for the following week before the halftime of the sunday night game like Spiro
