Sherman--Sorry I don't know the answer. (Just for info--I received a SECOND email from those PayPal attorneys about the lawsuit. It was exactly like the first one. I think because I once ordered some horse race software on line after closing my PayPal account. The Las Vegas website--Carroll's Speed figs had a link to PayPal where you could buy it on line. So--I (temporarily--guess that's what I did ) opened a PayPal acct with a brand new credit card and not my bank account information to buy the software. So I guess it looks like to the attorneys that I had a second PayPaly account. When in reality--the only thing that occured was my visa was charged--but somehow the merchant in stead of taking Visa--took--PayPal. It's all confusing to me and I HOPE that I do not have a PayPal acct still as this was a one time purchase.)
My simple advice--be VERY CAREFULL of even trying to do this.

I got the email yesterday. But OldMan, why do you say be careful. It's not like you are being sued. Pay Pal is being sued.

No--You miss understand me. I'm not a lawyer or wise in legal terms at all. But one thing--I feel fairly sure about. If it appears or gives the "appearance of" that you are trying to do something crooked or illegal or as they want to say a "gray area"--then you help them should anything (God Forbid) ever happen. You can use Neteller very simply with a bank account--PayPal was good--They have saddly passed on.

Paypal was not good, hence the lawsuit and the horror stories. They closed accounts and confiscated balances without due process.

Just because this did not affect you or I does not mean there were no problems.

Sherman, no it is not. When eBay acquired Paypal, a condition of the sale was that Paypal would no longer be a service provider to the online gaming business.

Paypal threw $19 million in annual revenues out the window with that decision, but it's kept their rep clean.

Your only other option is to pay a friend paypal to paypal, then that friend makes a person-to-person neteller transfer for the equivalent amount. Paypal won't communicate with neteller.

In addition to the no gaming rule, PP also has restrictions against online currency exchangers using it. While you can still find a small handful that do, most of them do not work with Neteller. You can find some that work with Moneybookers and several that work with e-gold, but Neteller is a rarity among e-currency exchangers.

Here's something that I don't understand. Why would a US merchant selling a product over the internet accept PayPal, but NOT Visa. I don't quite understand this. Does PayPal guarantee the merchant whereas, Visa does not? This has Absolutely nothing to do with Ebay. I bought computer software.

It is easier to get a PayPal account, which allows merchants to accept Visa/MC indirectly, than it is to get an online merchant account. No other reason -- not sure whether or not it is cheaper, but it is definately easier.

It finally came to me. If the attorneys had to use Email to communicate with potential "claimers"; then I think Wild Bill said it best. Maybe you get less than a dime. A dime for this defination is the one with Roosevelt's picture and is smaller in size than a penny!

To answer the question about Visa vs Paypal. Visa charges a $500 annual fee. On top of that most small sites have to use a 3rd party vendor to process those transactions like IBILL. They charge higher fees than Paypal. Plus IBILL and the like are constantly being sold requiring a ton of paperwork for the site owner. Or they are sending you some new regulation the card companies have put into effect that you have to comply with.
